I actally put a deposit down on my new shed on Monday. It's been a long time coming. I also get to beat the steel price rise and save $3,000.

Bring on a car hoist.

Any suggestions on a good price brand?

Hi Guys,

I'm looking to buy a shed this week probably.

Has anyone had any dealings with Wide Span Sheds?

Good or bad experiences?

Probably better if you PM me if there are any not so happy experiences.

I do some work for Sidach in Tassie and their product is about as good as it gets.

As Matt said, you would be doing well to get a better shed cheaper.

Cool, thanks guys.

I've requested a quote.

Will be interesting to see how they compare.

Some places just don't seem interested in selling their stuff, which to me says they'll be even less interested in helping with any problems that may arise.

If things go well, pics will follow.Posted Image

Yeah, I've onyl ever put up one shed, but some friends who helped me out said that mine was very easy as everything was cut perfectly to size and each part clearly marked. (Instructions weren't crash hot, but the salesman gave me his home number to call if i had any problems. So can't complain about that!!)

just make sure you know what your buying.

Wide Span sheds can seem cheaper than others but they tend to use thinner wall sheeting than others.

When buying a shed there are some thiings you need to ask.

1. what thickness is the sheeting on roof and walls, it needs to be .43 base metal thinkness, .35 sheet will drum in the wind and is easily damaged by hail, it can be damaged by walking on it.

2. what is the frame made of, if you want a good shed you it needs to be made from cold rolled steel (C sections) not wall framing like a house (titan do this), make sure its a heavy frame. a six meter span shed should be c150, 7m shed should be mostly c200 and sometimes c150 in the corners ONLY. 9m shed should be c250 all the way through.

3. anything that bolts to the concrete slab needs to be galvanised, black steel and painted steel will corrode.

4. make sure the roller doors you get are a brand name, roller door manufactures come and go. in Qld look for doors like Steel-line, Gliderol, B & D (not used alot due to cost).

5. windows with glass in them,,, not plastic.

6. clear roof panels. keep them to a minimum. they let in heat, heat in Qld is bad. light can come from ,,, lights..

thats all for now, forgive the typos, 6 Woodstock cans and im feeling funky,, and im going to pat myself on the back, this is my seconf post in the year i have been a member and its a good one..eheheh

I can build you a shed in solid construction (none of this flmsy steel framing crap) that will be well insulated and cost about the same as steel framing.

Ask me how :-)

Yes this is serious - I have a brand new product that is nearly ready to go to market.

I am moving to a new rental that has a double garage with remote roller door and a 3 car workshop - will post pics next week when I move in :-)
Can't wait to get my hatch in there and start doing some serious work to it............

Wow, some nice sheds there guys! My older brother has recently had his new shed put up, I'm unsure of it's dimensions, but let's just say it's got to be bloody huge, as he had to get a crane truck with an extend-able boom in to lift the walls into place. The pics he has on his facebook take your breath away, seeing the crane lifting the walls into place. A HQ SS will be living in there, along with other toys & tools. I'd love a shed that big, but would never get approval for it at my current place.

Which leads me to my current thoughts, which is working on a plan to buy a small factory, use that as my shed for working on projects & just leave my "garage" at home for storing the daily drives. At least that's the idea. In the mean time, i should get my garden shed finished off (building shelves & so on) so i can store some car parts in there, and give myself some more working room in the main shed. A mans shed is never big enough!

Cheers

There's a thought, but you can only write it off as a tax deduction if you somehow use it to make money, like maybe wrecking a few parts car's a year..... Anyway, idea is to build a set of 4, sell 2 to pay most of the loan out, then rent one out to finish paying the loan & things like rates, power bill & so on for the 3rd one. :D

I love the shed with a view! I bet that view is very distracting.

Just extended the roof of the carport out the back with some old polycarb sheeting. Not remotely impressive or inspiring, the workmanship is completely shithouse too but it is now a much nicer working area than what I had, and didn't cost me anything apart from the beer that my mates and I consumed during the construction process.

And yes I realise there is one tail light that is tinted and one that is not, lol.

Yeh i'll really happy with it all, dont move in until next month but man I have plans already.

The current owners are car nuts, unfortunately all with the blue oval on them.

When we viewed the house he had a XC coupe, bright orange still in bits.

The big drive goes to the front of the place so heaps of room to get in and out.

Hoping to get access a few days before we move in so I can etch and paint the workshop floor.

Started packing the LJ up on the weekend, gathering all the bits.

Should be great.
