Cost me $12,000 for a 24 metre x 10 metre slab 8 years ago,

which is only 70mm thick, reinforced.

They took the day to do the job,

as I had all the form-work and the site prepared level, and shed column pot-holes done.

If that is any help, which I thought was expensive at the time.  :furious:

I used to do small concreting jobs about 10 years ago.

100mm slab with reinforcing was around 60 bucks a square metre.

So $12000 for 24m by 10m is around the right money.

Only did the concrete because experience had shown that the concretors we used couldnt get the slab to our requirements.

Was building Aluminium Caravan Annexes.

All we wanted was a slab that was square to the Caravan and the edges level. Didnt care about the rest as long as it was reasonable.

The slabs were never square and had sometimes up to 50mm deviation from level on the edges.

Profit was good on the jobs.

Made enough on the first slab to pay for all required tools and formwork as well as making a nice profit on the day.

Looking good Jake. You definitely save a fair bit doing most of it yourself. I got a quote of $8,500 to do my slab (7.5x12), but by organising it all myself & paying an hourly rate to contractors & paying for materials directly like mesh & polythene, it'll come in at about $4,200.

I've finally got my boxing done, now I've just gotta dig the slab thickenings (500x500x200 deep x 10) for the portal legs & roller door openings this weekend for the inspection already booked for Monday morning! Fun tImes!

Did you find someone to pour it for you? I used John from Darlington Concrete. Good bloke, professional and quick. Allowed me to do all prep work.

About to get him back and concrete out the front of my shed too. The Grass is just a pain. haha

Yeah especially when it turns into sand.

I got my driveway extended all the way through, usually have the boat on there but it also doubles as a basketball court, cycle path, cricket pitch for the kids.

Thats the plan.

Cant roll anything out on the grass cause its hard to push, cant roll the engine crane out the front with a motor on it, cant do anything! haha

True.

Bit of advice, and something I didn't think of before I did mine, make sure you have some drainage along the front of your shed so water running down the driveway gets collected before it runs into your shed.

The guy who did my concrete left a gap so I could put in some drainage but I ended up having to trim it to get some in and it was a pain and not too pretty.

I still get some water in when its really heavy, but thats just from one spot that I have to sort out.

Best to put in a drain before the concrete goes down.

Better to do it beforehand I reckon.

Just got 6 kW of Solar Panels ( 24 ) put on the north facing roof on the 19-02-2015:-

Attached File  6 kW of panels.jpg   95.24K   8 downloads

runs a 5 kW Growatt inverter, grid connected.

Produces up to 39.6 kW per day, ATM.

On the right ( west ), is the approaching 1/4 past 5pm shadow,

which cuts the power from 3000 watts to 600 watts as soon as a couple of panels are affected.

My new project looks a little tiny in the shed!

20150307_134510.jpg

I'll started a project thread on this if anyone's keen to see - it's a '73 Kingswood Deluxe. Just a little different as the original owner ticked all the boxes for all the badges & trim he could get from the factory I think

Thanks Dave  :D

You read my mind too.. that's one of the car's I'd like to get my hands on - similar to the one Brad just picked up. That will be a while off though as they don't come up much & when they do it's $$$$ time!

I've sold off all my other projects except for the hatch & this HQ I just picked up. Plan is to get this on the road by the end of the year so I have something classic to drive round in while I work on the hatch..that's the plan anyway.  :driving:

Will start a thread in a few weeks when the shed is all set up

Something shed related reading through this topic, we had our ahead already when we bought our place, nice big sucker in backyard, two 3m wide by 3.5m high doors giving access only to two bays but the other end only had a little window and a privacy door

We gave the old shed a makeover cut in 2 new 2.4m by 2.1 high doors into dead end replaced the old doors so had 4 new doors ordered

Next we ordered new sheets of colourbond and ran them horizontal giving a new façade, so many people now turn up and are amazed how great and fresh it looks, some thinking its a new shed

Inside we have lined the walls with new galvanized zinc sheets vertically, these attached to the C sections giving the walls a clean finish no more spider webs, nasty vermin traps, etc, under the sheets e sheeted it with plywood first to absorb some noise and heat

Seems even the sheds can get a restoration

A mans shed is his castle

For anyone who is going to paint their shed floor, I recommend using dulux durebild epoxy. Make sure to acid etch first with hydrochloric acid. This stuff is bulletproof, you will only remove it with a grinder or sander. Spilling some thinners or paint stripper on it won't damage it.

Got my new workbench sorted. I have the same doors for it that are used on the cabinets above. Will be mounting those after some small changes to the legs near the vice.

Great job Phil, plenty of space there for stuff

I like the idea of a PC in the shed too.
