Geez Barry.. $18!!...around here thatwould be $150. I think the minimum forca trailer of mixed waste is something like $72.
That was one load $10 and the other $8 of green waste only and last year it was free for green waste
Both loads were cut up and stomped on to compact it but it still was damn high above the top of the trailer

Evening all
We are about to order our new shed for our backyard, will be a garage for the cars, and before i do so i was hoping i may be able to get a few tips and tricks on what works and what doesnt.
Can i ask some of you great people to share your thoughts on your shed?
What did you do that you liked? what would you change?
We are looking at building a 6x9.5. One end will have a double roller door and we plan on putting a single roller door at the opposing end on the side, make it somewhat drive through.
Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi Brad...
Things you may want to consider -
Make it high enough for a car hoist to go in now, or later. Thicken the slab where you think a hoist might go.
Insulate it, roof at a pinch, walls if you can.
Add a few whirly birds too.
Think of how many power points you would like, then double it, and youll be close.
Allow for at least 1 x 15amp outlet for a welder etc.
I'm sure there are others, that someone will add.

And maybe give some thought to security... see if they can bolt mesh to the frame under the wall sheets, and use a few pop rivets in each wall sheet so they can't be unscrewed quite so easily?
If you haven't yet laid the concrete you might consider some drop-in bollards in front of the roller doors too?

if your in a hot climate, bessa block rather than tin walls are Soooo much cooler, my shed at home is normal tin, the shed i rent is bessa block and on a hot summer day there is easy 10 or more deg difference

Ew that reminds me... don't put those poly-carbonate (clear) roof sheets in for the same reason as above!
One of the workshops I was in went from ambient temp in the summer to being an absolute oven after installing those clear sheets, and it was only about one-in-ten iron sheets that got replaced too. They let in a lot of light but you don't really want all that UV shining on your car anyway.

thanks guys
A lot of what has been spoken of has already been thought of except bollards. Might have to get me a few of them
Power points I plan on having 4 down each side, over kill maybe, but probably not.
Lights, I hadn't really considered LED though I was planning on having about 8 fluro's in it. You can never have enough light
What size have most people built? and do they regret the dimensions? its ended up being 6mx10m which should be good

If possible double up the column's in areas to make installing a loft easier.
Agree with led lights. So much better than fluros. Check out the led vs fluro tread
Hunt up some gal water pipe and run some around the walls etc and fit off areas with compressor fittings. So u can have the compressor at 1 spot and many areas to plug into if that makes sense.
There are right and wrong ways to do this also to stop any water coming through the lines. If possible make a little home for the compressor outside of the shed. For 1 its less noise in the shed. 2 cleaner on the filters.
Just some more thoughts for u.

Blue line poly pipe also works well for air lines apparently, and would be easier and cheaper to install. definitely agree, 6m wide makes it squeezy round the front and rear of a car.

Regarding size......I would only add that try and make it so your favourite cars can fit end to end as well.
My 10m deep x8m wide, was cut back to 9m x 8m by the local council, due to some B.S, .
LC/LJ now dont ( just) fit nose to tail.
A real PITA as one has to be turned a little sideways on Go Jacks to fit nicely.

Yeah get it as big as you can afford and/or the council will allow.

Mine is 9 x 10 and too small. The bigger the better. Insulation is a must and a good height roof also. I have a hoist and can lift a car all the way up with the bonnet up and still not go near the roof.

thanks for all the comments guys. Its much appreciated
Sadly if we go wider we need to reduce the pitch which means the hoist won't fit as easily.
I don't plan on having 4 cars stored in it so all should be good and given it will have a hoist i should be sweet

I thought I'd post a photo sequence of my shed extension I finished just before Xmas..
The backyard single car shed served me well over the years but it was time to go onto bigger & better things.
I'm stoked..now the dream has become a reality
Enjoy..Cheers
