I'd like to pull my LX SLR5000 out of retirement and put it on historic rego. It's stock and in good nick so it shouldn't be a problem. Can I just show up on the day or do you need to know I'm coming?.
Cheers,
Darryl.

A 308 LJ WAS a dealer option here in SA from what I gather from other posts on this forum.
So tell Wayne to tick that box. Dave is too much of a tight arse.

Ha Ha.

Just an important note. If anyone wants their transferred to historic rego, and not just reinspected because it's already on historic rego, a one off fee applies. $60 if a member for less than a year, $40 if a member for less than two years, and $20 for all others. You also HAVE to be a current Club member.
The car can be inspected on the day, and a form issued, then that form has to be taken into a motor reg office along with an application for historic reg. They will issue a historic reg rego label, then you have to come back to the Club (ie me) to get a log book filled out and issued. Your car is not considered registered until you have a completed log book in your possession. It's a long process, but we're sticking by their rules.
One other point - if your car is a late 1977 build, but was first registered in 1978, you will need to prove to the motor reg people that it is actually a 1977 car. We will write this on the historic rego form, but you'll either need to present the car so the ADR compliance plate can be checked, or supply eg a photo of the compliance plate showing the build year and month, probably signed by a JP to state that it is off your car.
Oh, and Darky - those massive rubbers and alloy drop tank were A9X options, weren't they?

Also sorry as I was meaning to contact you re not nominating for VP, think it's time someone else gets a go, happy to continue in the role of Historic Inspector though.
Over here in Orlando Florida it's 97 degrees today and 80 odd percent humidity

Going on a hotrod cruise which my father in law arranged with a guy here tonight, some real nice cars expected for the turn out so will get plenty of pics.
Prior to the cruise will be watching the launch of the Space Shuttle which is expected to lift off tonight around 6ish??
Seen some real nice old cars getting around the place. Spent the first couple of days in LA and have been here since Sunday!
Talk soon!
"Cheers"

Our membership is only $25 to join for a year, and $20 to renew - it's only $30 if it's late in the year, and we give membership for the remainder of the year plus the whole next year.
The one off inspection fee is only applicable if the vehicle is accepted for historic rego - if we look at the car and say no, then there's no fee.
it's not for all Toranas over 30 years - it's for all standard Toranas over 30 years, ie unmodified cars which meet the Code of Practice guidelines.
Good work on the flyer though.
