As most of you have worked out already i recently purchased a LC 2 door. I am planning to convert it into a race car, something cheap and fun, so I don't have to keep risking the SL everytime i go on the track. Also so i can go a bit faster.
Plans are roll cage, racing seats and harnesses, 253/308, M21, banjo. Most stuff will be kept fairly stock to keep costs down.
Sorry about the quality of the pics but here goes.
Now my problem is this. As you can see the back of the rear guards and the passenger sill need replacing. Does anyone in Vic have a car that i could cut those bits out of?
thanks for looking

Have a look at Heaths thread, his lower quarter was cut from a sacrificial door skin. The pic is not the finished product though.

You'll have your work cut out for you. Especially on the beast next to it

I decided in the middle of the year to leave the paint untill the weather warmed up, as i had heard some horror stories of cars painted in the middle of winter.
The coupe has been hiding in the garage basicaly for the last 6 months, just staying out of the weather.
Well yesterday i rolled it out, and pushed it down the back yard to begin the work of rubbing the car down. Plan is to rub it back and undercoat it myself, then trailer it to a mates work for the top coat.
On the mechanical front I have sourced a 253 which should be arriving in a few weeks, also I have an M21 i need to pickup, the course spline CIG locker 3.55 banjo is already in the garage awaiting fitment, along with the V8 clutch, belhousing and flywheel.
Heres some better pics showing the car. I have offloaded the volvo rims so it has the SLs orginal wheels on the passenger side.
I've also managed to get a truckload of bits off a forum member who recently striped a car which means i have a pair of front seats, steering column, rear drums now, glass front and rear screens etc. thanks again Garry.

I had trouble with the spray gun as you can see. I think i had the tube the wrong way in the can, so when the paint go low it was sucking air instead of paint. Also the paint cans didn't have a ratio on it, so i used 4:1 on the etch primer and 5:1 on the undercoat. no idea if its right or not. But then if i have to i can always rub it back and do it again...

I am moving in with a mate next month, finally moving out of home. The Coupe will be moved down to my mates farm, where it will be stored undercover.
Realisticaly now, it should get the 253 and m21 before i move it down there but thats about it.
I will continue to prepare the body for paint, but it may not be raceworthy before the end of next year.

BUT...
I already have all the bits to get it running with the 186 so in it goes. Today we stuck it in. Had a bit of trouble getting the HK/G/T sump to fit in the LC tho, so we had to 'massage' it to fit it. So I am on the look out for a LC/J 6 cylinder sump.
