Since the White SL has just been sold the racing idea has been scrapped. Car will be rebuilt with a 186 and m20 and used as a weekender. First priority will be to get the thing bead/sand/soda blasted and etch primed and buy a weilder and start cutting the rust out. Plans are for a LC GTR mockup in Lina Mint. I hope to have it going sometime this side of 2010.

I'm just going to concentrate on saving money up so i can hopefully do the work over summer.
Since I last updated I have brought a banjo axle for it (spare) and a set of rego plates.

BTW they are just standard issue rego plates, not custom plates.

I have managed, earlier this year, to put up a shed on a mates farm so now it sits under a car cover and locked up out of the weather awaiting me to start work on it. I am planning to try and get some of the rust repair done over christmas. I really need a set of 13 x 5 Torana stockies with tyres, the Volvo rims on it hit the guards and make it awkward to move the car.

Vicroads will not allow me to register the vechicle unless Holden reissue the compliance for the Torana. In short I have 1050kg paperweight for what i want. Looks like i will just have to try and buy a Torana.
People have suggested to me to build it as a race car and yes i could do that, but with my limited free time and lack of cash its gonan sit around probably 51 weeks of the year.
I'm not about to do the dodgy and try and get tags for it that are not its own.
I may just offer this for sale, I'm not sure yet. I'm ment to be saving for a house deposit but i want a Torana.

As of yet I have not decided what to do, but the Coupe won't be going unless i have a suitable replacement, so it will sit for a while yet. I may just continue with the race car project, but i really need my own place first.
So the project isn't dead yet, just shelved.

Try this:
Ring the RTA, tell them that you have a car that you can prove the ownership of (assuming you have a reciept?) and ask them if they would register it after you have a VP (Victoria Police) number stamped.
This is how it used to be done.

The plan is still to get this registered and do it up like a LC GTR.
I'm hoping to get some rust repair done on the car, and maybe some etch priming before the weather starts getting cold.
Heres a few happy snaps of loading the car to bring it home.
Thanks
Steve

Monday and Tuesday this week have been spent rust treating. Plenty of time on the floor and in the boot with the wirewheel. I have discovered the drivers floorpan has already been replaced, and there is already three other patches in the floor. Well theres gonna be more since the passenger side is looking a little bit sick and the rear floor pan will definately need to be patched. Looks like I'm gonna learn how to fabricate panels. Anyways here some pics.
A couple of tools to help me along, Grinder, Drill, Wirewheels and Orbital Sander.
Before Wirewheel
After Wirewheel
There was also this mysterious blue colour when I removed the radiator support panel in the middle of the nose. Any ideas? Maybe its the orignal colour.
