Hahaha, I must say, it's gotten a bit carried away. Originally it was going to be a stock 350 wih a cam and a banjo diff with stock wheels and everything. Hmmmm, now its more a streeter/drag/????

Hi guys, well today I contacted Keysborough diffs and my diff will be another week away, :furious: I called MV Autos and my trans isn't finished yet, :furious: and my front runner tres are still being couriered here :furious:

But the good news. I dropped my block off to get bored and chemically cleaned and also balanced. I received my 4340 crank and H-beam 3D rods which were also sent off to be balanced. I have paid more off my Brodix track 1 heads and picked up my wheelie bars (Chrome and pollished alloy). My interior will also be ready start of next week!

Great job so far on the car. I can understand you getting frustrated with waiting for people to do stuff.

Why is it when your waiting for a few things to continue your project they all seem to come back at the same time and you haven't got time to fit them all?

Yeah tell me about it. I am sick of having to chase everyone up! No business ever calls you and says 'hey your stuff is finished it's on its way'. Fricken annoying. Oh well :spoton:

The worst part is when you develop a friendship with your panel beater/spray painter and they think it's ok to stall you.

I've got a system with the painter who does all my bikes now and it works fantastic.

It's a barter system. He's not mechanically minded and is always doing up bikes himself, so if scratch my bike, i'll scratch yours.

This also work when i had to get the torana resprayed. He has a good mate who owns a panel shop. I dropped the car off stripped in etch primer.

I got it back repaired and sprayed in about 6 weeks!!!!!

And it was very cheap and awesome work.

HAha! Funny you say that, I have actually done enough to it so later on when I get fussy, all it needs is a coat of paint and its mint. Everything is getting to the point where it is new or rechromed. The undercarriage has been detailed and 2pak'd, so not too far off! :spoton:

Looks like you've shortened your diff by cutting out the extra sections and taping it back together :tease:

Are the specialised wheel nuts expensive?

Haha, your a funny lil f*cker aint ya heath. Nah it was hot glue gunned instead as the tape wouldn't hold hehe.

Well after putting it in I found what I thought would happen. The top mounts bottomed out on the floor, so I bought a ladder bar setup from competition engineering, so I'll be putting that in this weekend!

Haha, cheers mate. It is looking the part now, its annoying that the paint isn't great though, although it won't cost much to make it a show car now as all the chrome and fussy work is done! Installing coilovers and bracket and bracing tomorrow. Will keep yas posted! Cheers

Well, the ladder bar needs a clip for it to fit as there isn't enough room, so I ordered adjustable top control arms and lengthened lower control arms so it sits perfectly central within the tub. I ordered these from MC DOnald Bros racing so that should be here next week.

I spent $4000 on finishing motor parts and also picked up my AFR heads yesterday. I'm very pleased with the quality of everyhting that is going on this motor. All up now in parts and machining its costing $9000. But I should be looking close to 500rwkw and running a mid to low 9.

damn HB Toranas are pretty cool, they sorta remind me of a mini monaro lol.

What do they weigh and i'd imagine the 2 doors are rare?

The 4 door are actually the rare ones as they were only made in the later series and for Australia whereas the 2 door ones were a Vauxhall Viva with different lights and grille, etc. I remember checking the weight of them to see what size motor you could legally drop into one and still get it engineered in NSW. They are pretty light, somewhere between 765kg and 825kg I think depending on which model you went for. The 2 door base model was the lightest and the 4 door SL was the heaviest. Because of the weight and the fact that they only came out with a 4cyl motor from the factory, you can only legally go up to about 2.5lt in NSW.

$9000 to run 9's, thats a pretty good deal!

Hi Big al, the 2 doors like every car, are the more valuable ones! and are getting rare now. The Brabham Torana only came in a 2door and is one of the rarest Toranas to get now. Its just like the gtr and xu1. They didn't make a gtr or xu1 4 door as it isn't a racing coupe. 2 door toranas, apart from the slr-5000 are always worth more. The HB before I messed with it weighed dead on 800kg. After the v8 and the 9 inch it'll be close to 1ton.

Sure $9k to run 9's is great, but I remember saying that I was going to build the whole car for around $12000. However once I had the cash, I couldn't say no. The arse end has cost me $4k with the coil overs, control arms, wheelie bars and the 9 inch. The interior from bare to finished is $1k. The car cost me $2k to start with, wheels and tyres $2k and accessories have cost me around $2k.

Before I knew it I had spent $20,000 in 5 months! I could have bought another house!, but I would have also been miserable. SO I guess I can't complain as I 'Fricken love it!' :spoton:

Well, its been a while, but the block is about to be back in my hands. I am having Fury at Lonsdale engine worx to bore it to 30thou, blue print and balance everything. So in two weeks I will have the engine all built and ready to slide in and send off for a tailshaft to have made.

I also purchased an aussie desert alloy radiator and all the left over bits for my motor. I also got to look at my gtr the other weekend and it is getting staight as! Love it!

Take care. :spoton:
