Do you use the Towie that lives across the road? LOL! Very Handy, I must say! LOL

Yes I did, even though the sparkie is only about 700 meters away, but on the main road. I don't want to risk a fine for unregistered car and the rest.

The car gets a wheel alignment tomorrow and then it comes home for all the carpet fitting and bits and pieces to go back in.

I will try and get this car ready for blue slip Friday/Saturday the latest....

Looking very schmick there mate, its a real credit to you and the hard work you have put in - especially whilst injured. Hope to see you on a forum cruise or drag night to check this beast out :D

Thanks for your comments. Once car is registered I check for any forum cruise and may even arrange one myself, heck I'll drive by myself if needed. I was looking back at this thread and showing my mate all the pictures and I was amazed at how far the car has come in such a short time.

It's kinda sad that it's coming to an end. I really enjoy the journey more than the end result. I may just go and help others once I'm done I suppose.

Don't worry there will always be something else you want to change, the journey is never over, trust me!

So true that. i bought the car in 1991 and it's still ongoing project...This has been the biggest rebuild so far though.

Alarm is in and the wheel alignment has been done. I'm concerned about the noise coming from the gearbox. Sounds like an old M20 gearbox when the bearings are starting to go.

I will try and change the oil and see how that affects it. The noise goes away when the clutch is in and after a few seconds stops all together. When you release the clutch the noise comes back, in neutral, in gear what ever.

May be the input shaft bearings...I haven't be able to try it 4th gear to see if the noise goes away yet....

I really hope that I don't have to pull the gear box out...

I worked it out...No oil in the gearbox. Thankfully I haven't had the car running too long or driven far. It should be fine. What oil there was in there (about 100 mls) wasn't to bad. It didn't smell like cooked oil and it had the usual sparkly bits in it.

I may have saved the gearbox...

Just a quick update..15/02/09

-New underlay in
-Old carpet back in after a car lovers blast clean up..(I'll replace this later)
-New front seat belts in
-Driver seat back in and bolted.
-Handbrake console modified to fit. (I want to get a custom one made in near future)

Tomorrow is about cleaning up, fitting pass seat, pinch weld, chrome scuff plates and just a general tidy up..

If all goes well then I will go for the blue slip within a few days. Providing I don't have to work....

Here some pictures for you...

Boost gauge is fitted in old choke cable location.

A very handy light when working on the car. It spring loaded so you can clip over the bonnet or the roof. You can also rotate the light or even un clip it for under car work.

The interior is ordinary at the moment, but it won't stop me from enjoy the car for what it is..I'll save up some more coin and get the seats, carpet and door trims done at a later date.

I like what you did to the dash mate. I'll have to show maddy that, she might want to do something similar to her dash in WILD UC!

Best of luck finishing off the last few things!

We found out that it was over boosting. We fixed that tonight. It has other issues, so I'll go and see a local expert and get some advice...

Looking forward to catching up with some of the crew. I did see a familiar devil yellow hatch in a workshop that I got my blue slip from...

Too wet for new pictures. I'm have been sorting some running issues with the engine. I can't believe the grunt this engine has. I was driving along in 2nd and punched it. Boost comes on and it starts wheeling spinning in the wet.

I'll have to be very careful....

Well I have clocked up about 1,000 klms on it already since Monday arvo. I've been everywhere..eastern creek..oran park..mac pass..heatcote..jambaroo..kiama and I'm loving it.

It's still early to say, but I do know that this engine is more economical than the worked 202 I had it in before. Even with lauching it a few times.

Down side is that the gearbox will have to come out for new bearings very soon...

The best part is the look on other peoples faces when I spool the turbo past them..
