Hey
I didnt even see your hatch at the fest,
i caught a glimce of it when you were leaving,
i wanted to catch up and say hi.
and yes the day did "just fly"
make sure we meet next year OK
cheers Baz

I kinda wish that there was a set time that only owners/family could get around and chat.

I only managed 2 quick laps of the cars, but I could have stayed there for 2 days.

So much to see and do. I didn't even get a chance to go on that racing game. I was watching someone play and I recognized the track (Oran park).

I've done a few track days there on my bike so I wanted a crack, but you get that.

Well I got the call from the gearbox place that I've been waiting for. It needs all new bearings (which I kinda guessed), new sychro's and one shift fork. All up including labour is about $1,500. Not bad considering they wanted $1,650 for a second hand box.

I'm glad I caught it now before it got very expensive. At least that one more part I needed worry about as it it's all new again.

Why do we have such expensive toys?

Can't we be under the thumb and just watch telly like other men in resentment?

Well guess what boys and girls. It is with great pleasure to say that the parts turned up in time and a great solid effort by the boys at drive line gears in wollongong to get the gearbox back to me at 6.30pm tonight.

Con and the boys from driveline stayed back to get all done. I'm wrapped to announce the car is back on the road.

I had a few mates help me get the box in (I can't do it) and it was all up and running by 9pm. The starter motor and the exhaust from the dump pipe is the worst to get back on.

I even managed an oil, filter change (torana), Major service on the wifes car (timing belt, pulleys, tensioners, plugs, oil coolant, air filter and other things) and even sold that bike I built today. What a day!

I have to keep under 80klm for the first 100klm. I'll be heading off Saturday morning and even though it will be a very painful trip (back issues) it will be worth.

A small test drive tonight confirms that the noises are sorted. Feels like a new car to drive.

I can't to I drive again.

Road trip... :nudie:

Just a quick update as I have clocked up about 2,000 klms since the gearbox went back in.

That's a lot of klms 5 days...

Anyway while I was down there I had someone double check my timing as it's a pain. It was 3 degrees retarded and he also found a vacuum leak that I couldn't find. I splashed out and bought a K & N panel filter while I was down in Melbourne.

The car is running very, very sweet and with some extra boost it's really starting to kick harder than ever before. I also got some great fuel consumption figures.

Hows 8.5 litres per 100 klms grab you? That's freeway driving sitting on 110klm in 5th. I'm so stoked with the car and it does everything that I wanted when I built it.

Now to finish the little bits that love and attention.
