I don't know if there is a part number but I'm thinking now that it would move the brake disc and require spacing the caliper off the mounts to compensate so perhaps not that easy after all.

Yeah, that came across my mind/ I'll have a chat to the brake place and they may have something up there sleeve.

Just for mumstaxi...

I still need to fit that quarter window trim. I just can't bring my self into drilling into it...It's one of those things I keep putting off.

Mate, that looks awesome. Well done.

Are you too afraid to show us a pic of the taillights? :tease:

Seriously though, top work.

I never thought I'd say it, but they don't look that bad... I just can't get over how well the wheels suit the car!

Kinda looks moon buggy from that angle. Once all the chrome is on it will look even better. I've forgotten how low this car is.

I haven't forgotten about this car and I'm aiming to get done in 3 weeks. So much to do, so little time. I'm off work due to workers comp, so it makes it hard to get around with back injury.

I have some mates helping me and now the fun part of sorting out all the wiring. What I have working so far is..

-Rear tail lights and brake lights
-Number plate light
-Left and right rear indicator
-interior light

I've got find the missing part of the front loom and then I can get the front sorted. I also have a brand new L/H parker/indicator unit complete some where...

I will tidy up the shed and get all the Torana parts out and sorted..I did find the original bracket for the air con pump for the 202. Let me know if your interested in it...

Stuff still to be done..

-Brake lines (all)
-Caliper at front to be reco'd/new pads/discs/hoses and wheel bearings
-Exhaust system and intercooler pipes
-Find feed wires from RB25 ecu for stuff like tacho/oil pressure/alt/temp and maybe even fit boost gauge.

I want to just fit the old trim back in there for now and sort that out next year. I'm really keen to get this car done and registered. I'd hate to think that they laws can change before I get engineered..

I'll post up some pictures later

Thanks champ. It doesn't look any different from the outside and the inside is a mess with wires. So much to do and so little time.

I have booked the car for next monday to get all the brakes line fitted and the system bled. I have the car booked also this wednesday to get the exhaust system and inter cooler pipes made.

I've run the wires for the wiper motor and that's all fitted. I'll take some pictures later. I have run the wiring inside under the grille area. The wiper motor isn't self stopping. I did see a thread on that, so I'll have a read.

Also I'll be in melbourne in the torana (that's the plan) in december, maybe we could met up with a few melbourne lads for a cruise??

Car's looking good, but are you tail lights on the wrong way around?

Nope, that's how the tail lights are suppose to be. Often people put them on upside down, but they look weird as the shape of the tail light is straight on one edge and curved on the other.

I'll looking at being in Melbourne from the 15-28 December. I guess my car will be easy to spot. When the date gets closer I'll grab some numbers and we can arrange a met.

It does read cocky, but unless I set a goal, it won't happen. I was suppose to track my track bike down to do a track day at phillip island, but a recent back injury has stopped that idea.

When I first read your post (skimmed it as I have had too much caffeine) I though you said that my car looks shit..

I was like, what...someone doesn't like it, that would be a first, not that I'm building to impress anyone. I'm doing iy cause I want to have a retro car.

Old school body, new age drive line and sleeper looks.

I picked up the reco front calipers this arvo (dropped them off at 12pm), front discs and wheels bearings. I need to get some longer wheel studs and then I can get the brakes on the front.

I think you lost the sleeper aspect when you chose the colour and wheels :P

What would the general public know about standard torana colours in this day and age? It's almost like the blue on the monaro..

As for the wheels...well...you get that. There's no visible inter cooler, there will be no loud exhaust or anything hanging out of the bonnet...Smooth lines and fast car...

You don't need an original colour for a sleeper, you need... a boring one :P Not taking anything away from the car, I love it :D But I don't think it fits the sleeper category.

Yep, my bad, you're right my brain was playing up. Agreed with the second part lol

If you could put your car on 13" Torana stockies with mini-moon chrome caps then maaaaybe it would look like a sleeper. ATM, definately not, it is bright and draws lots of attention to itself, especially with the big wheels. :P

Bugger...So not a sleeper anymore. Years ago I was near coffs harbour for a week and I got rear ended in the torana. nothing major, but I decided to get it fixed while I was up there.

When I went to pick up the car they had one tail light upside down. Gee it look funny. Also the repair was second rate, so I made a complaint. He paid my local panel beater to fix his stuff up.

Lesson learned. Only trust those panel beaters that you know.

Some pictures of the work in progress..

Posted Image

Making the rats nest tidy again...

Posted Image

You can see the wires crossing from RB25 harness to the UC harness. I still need to sort out the tacho..

Posted Image

What is different about this dash?

Posted Image

The size difference between the R33 charcoal canister and the UC.

Posted Image

Picked up the car from exhaust shop. It sounds really nice. Not loud at all. A slight rumble...

Posted Image

Some interior pictures. It was done about 10 years ago and really bad back then. It's fallen apart, so it will have to do until funds permit getting some fresh stuff done. The head lining, door tops and around the quarter windows are newish.

I have some spare trims that I can get redone once funds permit...we all know about this..

Looks like a "cop" speedo with extra increments for more accurate readings ?

Also the extra Power "PWR" light ,and you have oil pressure while engine not running ?

I Love that Blue paint heaps ,but that Tow bar so need's to get painted Black in my opinion.

Nice to see more progression mate.

I think I will have too as I forgot that I left some cables ties and a piece of rubber to stop the old exhaust from hitting the tow bar.

So if I take it off it will stick out. Ilike the tow bar blue cause it blends with the car, so you don't really see it without the tongue itself.

Do you what I spotted in my shed? Original rola roof racks for the UC. The are great when I went to the snow fields a few times back in the day..I wonder if you can still buy them?

By the way, I had the engineer come by today and he had an inspection of the car and all it's mods.

He took heaps of pictures and wrote a list of the mods. I asked him what he thought and he said it's a very neat conversion and it's perfect.

Once the car is all together he needs a few more pictures and I get the report...That was a load of my mind.

He asked me if it was loud and if I could start it up. I reached in and turned the key....vroom..Smooth idle very quiet.

Yep, that's perfect he said...Getting close now...

I helped my mate on his WB ute and in turn he helped me on the torana last night. I have back issue (last 2 months) and it makes bending, getting up and just working on the car very painful.

I found out that the neurosurgeon wants to operate on the 25/11/08...9 days way. My plan is to get the car registered before that day so I can least drive it once before going under the knife.

Last night we fitted the reco'd front brakes, new wheels bearings, longer wheels studs and new discs. I also got my mate to fit the brake booster as that would be impossible for me at the moment.

The car goes in on 17/11/08 to the brake for lines across diff, new flexible hose from splitter, new line from rear to master cylinder, new hoses on front caliper, new pads (strange set up..lol) and lines from left and right cailpers. Also they will sort out hand brake cables and make a new clucth line from master to slave.

What is left to do...

-Fit remaining interior, awaiting brakes to be done as they may run master to rear brake line internally.
-Fit rear sway bar, shocks and springs. I may do this today..
-Remaining electrics, sparky coming on thursday
-Remove tappet covers, paint, replace seals, clean throttle body and replace spark plugs.
-Repair left hand GTS mirror and fit glass.
-Fit all the air cond stuff
-Fit front harness, get all lights going, wiper bottle, horn, horn relay.
-Fit bonnet cable. May be an issue as I have blank the original hole in a moment of a great idea (brain fart)
-Drain and replace gear box oil.
-Speedo drive set up ???? Still not sure about this..

I'll take some pictures in a moment.
