hey mitch, got some more questions for ya haha

The original torana heater box has an inlet and outlet doesn't it???

Have you plumbed up any hoses so the car can be heated??

Also is the power steering pump the only idler besides from the original ones needed??

Was the air con by-passed???

Have you got and better photos of how you made the idler from the original power steering one because it looks heaps better than the v6conversions one.

Also is you air box mounted???, whats the bottom section of it look like as i have only got a top half and where does the air enter??

I was looking at buying a aluminum pipe like you have but have a pod on the end, are they legal ive heard there not, im probably best speaking to the engineer.

Cheers

Hey youngy_11,
The torana has no heating or air conditioning in it. The air conditioning was deleted and using a non air-con belt.
The power steering pump is the only other idler besides the original ones needed.
I will also get you some better pictures of the power steering pump over the weekend once it stops raining.
Yes the airbox is bottled in place in the battery tray. The battery has been relocated to the boot. The bottom section is similar to the top and holds the filter. The top clips to the bottom. The air enters from a hole facing the headlight.
Pod Filters are illegal, unless fully covered.

Yeah toddles we thought the same thing. They have been there for ages and dad has used them many times with his other projects. We were very happy when they quoted the price, and ecstatic when we saw the outcome.

Ok thanks mitch,

Well why does the torana have 2 pipes coming in and out of it and a small radiator type thing in it???

I thought the hot water was run through the air box and theres a flap on the inside that is adjusted to allow cool air to pass through or air to flow through through the radiator, i.e hot air.

Thanks mate

The torana heater box has two pipes so the water can flow through small radiator in heater box and then back into cooling system.

Your correct about the flap thing in heater box. It governs how much air goes over the small radiator in your heater box.

Fully open=more air through small radiator=more heat.

Fully closed=no air through radiator=cold air.

Mitch mate, go find KRB88s V6 LJ thread.

check out what she had done with her inlet manifold. would improve the bay alot more mate. Mill the 3800 off and get it polished up.

Besides that mate, looks pretty horn.

Good luck with it all mate. :spoton:

Few pics from supernats last sunday. Fun day especially with me being a first time racer. Rain started taking over about midday but go-to-woah and drags were almost out of the way.

What is with the rear wheel of the Monaro in the third pic? Are those pictures from different runs and he changed wheels?

I can't believe you posted photos with no E.T.s! lol

Yeah Heath Dad ran the street wheels for go-to-woah and his first drag, but then swapped to his slicks for the last one.
Will post up time slips soon.

Well the Torana definitely needs a bit of improvement with the time slips. Though all that will come with time, but at the moment I am after a new banjo diff centre as the one in will go bang soon. We expected to go home from supernats on a flat-bed. We have a LSD VR commodore diff we want to get shortened but not before the new year, so at the moment we are looking for just a replacement banjo centre.
Best time -

Mitch didnt mention a few things that affected his times apart from his driving skills.:tease:
While he mentioned the diff centre I didnt want him preforming a burn out due to this and seeing video of the run there was a bit of wheel spin on the first to second change.
but one of the other things is when I set up the speedo we found that the shifter mechanism hits the speed sensor if we try to manually select a lower gear than drive, so this meant racing in drive and the subsequent gear shifts around 3800 rpm. So we know there is a fair improvement available as we sort it out.
although if you have read this far you may recall that the brief that Mitch set was to have the car ready and registered by Supernats and he achieved that goal:clap:
now he has till July before he gets his P's  and he has his HSC (top priority isnt it Mitch! or the next post could be a For Sale) but these things are never finished but it may slow down.

Well after supernats, the diff wasn't really co-operating so we thought it was time for a new one. We removed the 3.08 diff centre and replaced it with a 3.55 centre which we picked up cheap, cleaned up and gave a coat of paint. Problem solved. Much smoother ride now and it is now a car you actually enjoy getting into and going for a cruise in with out the load knocks with every rotation of the diff centre.
Also,
I am looking forward to taking it out on the dragstrip again. Unfortunately I am working next Friday so I can't make the Full Throttle Friday at WSID, but has there been any talks about another GMH-Torana.com WSID drag night? As I would be very interested!

Mitch,
Nice looking car would be interested in some engine bay pics and maybe later you could drop a supercharged number in it for more herbs.

Pics will be taken tomorrow upon request. As for the supercharger... no matter how good that sounds, it is still illegal for me for about 3 and a half years, as is any performance upgrades and unfortunately a V8

An update of what I have been up to:
As apart of my Design and Technology Major project, I have decided to build my own 'Torailer'. Well this is slowly but surely coming true. I recently purchased this -

After some grinding and cutting with the oxy, it has now transformed into this -

Will hopefully put up a thread in members projects and plans soon on this project, but I am curious about peoples input in this project e.g. trailer chassis dimensions, ideas for features to incorporate into the 'torailer'.
Dad and I have been talking about this for some time now, and we think we have come to a final decision as to the reason I have decided to build it and for what purpose I am going to use it for, but before i tell about that, I am interested to know what other forumers would suggest.
Thanks

Mitch
