Help me out with this one guys,
After refitting my 308, went to start it today and wen i flick the key to crank. i have no ignition but it cranks.
If i leave it at the cranking stage the starter stays engaged and so on, if i flick it back to its normal running position on the key it shuts down like i turned it off.
Any suggestions ?
Cheers

Have you put all the wires back on the coil?
Do your dash lights come on with ignition?
Will it run while you are cranking?
RACV MAN (Here we go again)

As rodomo asked:
Does the engine want to fire while cranking? ( Does it cough and try to catch?)
Can you smell raw fuel after you give it a few squirts of the carby? ( is it getting fuel into the engine.. not a blocked fuel system).
If you CAN smell fuel, try pulling a plug lead off and put a spare spark plug into it and touch it somewehre earthed on the car... get someone to crank it and watch for spark. If you get spark on all cylinders then its not an electrical problem!
Best of luck!

A mate had this problem on a 173, it would wind over and start/Run, but as soon as you let the key go it would stop. He had put a new ignition barrel in it and the wiring was wrong. There was no power to the coil in the On position, but for some reason it had power in the start position.
Check for power to the coil when key is in ON position, If theres no power you have a problem somewhere.
