Apart from answers "check your RTA",

This is the bit I don't understand. Could you elaborate on why? I've seen widened GTS wheels before, does that mean they are all originally Torana wheels because the Torana wheels were somehow different and modifyable? The HQ rims cant be modified to suit the Torana offset, so a new rim is needed to mount the centre into.

Heath, when widening rims they don't stretch the rim from 6" to 8" via some stretching machine.
See the wheels are a 2 piece, so for example if you want 14x8 or 15x10 GTS rims, what the wheel shop does is cuts the GTS centre out of a standard GTS 6" rim and welds it onto your, 7, 8 or 10" outter rim/band, (The round bit).
Now the reason why you can't just move the centre back on a standard 6" rim and make it look like an A9X rim is because behind the centre of a standard GTS rim the band steps down, so there would be nowhere to weld the centre onto.
Make sense now? Thats why to make A9X/L34 wheels you need to find the correct band/rims so there is somewhere to weld a centre to at the right offset.

The 1/2" difference is exactly 12.7 mm, so it depends on how strict they are and what their knowledge of Toranas and HQs is like, you might be lucky. The DPI in WA state thet the offset must not be changed by more than 12.5mm so that means i can't get my car over the pits with HQ offset?

I have been assured again that if the full A9X optioned equipment (suspension, brakes, steering arms etc) is used in the car and it was an option for that model (and it was for a LX) that the published A9X track width and wheel sizes etc will then apply.
This means that you can actually go up to a 7" rim (A9x was 6" so 1" increase permitted) and the maximum track widths must only be a maximum of the A9X track widths plus the allowable 25mm extra permitted.
I previously did an LH to L34 specs with a mod permit and ran L34 spec brakes (HQ front discs and HQ rear drums) with Lovells suspension from WA suspensions, 7" wide x 14' dragway 5 spokes with 245 front and 265 rear and was passed. The track widths made it in by about 5mm from memory.
So its a matter of working out the correct back spacing to fit within the the A9X track widths + 25mm to get it licensed in WA if full A9X optioned gear is fitted.
PM me your phone number if you want to discuss more
Cheers

in regards to fitting 14x6 GTS wheels that have been widened and modifed
to 15x7 and 15x8
what effect will this have as to offset on the standard LH/LX with(hq stud )
How will they sit in the guards ,
would you need flairs?
thanks
