just returned from a 5 day long weekend This is one of the last items i worked on before i left. The l/h side of the scuttle panel. I've nearly finished it, no rust

I completed the R/h side scuttle panel today a bigger job than i thought. At least there is no rust now . All I have to do is feather in the welds to finish it .

I sandblasted under the scuttle panel then coated it with epoxy undercoat ( no more rust ) I will paint it glacier white before i fix the scuttle panel

The rear r/h corner requires a fair bit of work , someone placed about an inch of bog over it from the centre line down the rear bumper .
I have a complete R/H rear quarter panel for a two door & four door and don't no whether to do a cut and join or remove the complete panel, Its a hard choice....

You've done all those hard yards so far to have the car right you don't want joins where they're not supposed to be that you can see in the boot- it will forever look like a patched, botched job
A few old sayings come to mind....
'In for a penny, in for a pound'
'Do it right, do it once'
And the one my grandfather used to always tell me...
'You're not building bloody watches' ... but in this case it's Toranas which is more important
If you can't repair it, replace the whole panel
Cheers,

I had a panelbeater look at it and recons I could butt join the panel if i cut a line 45
Deg. from the wheel arch to the boot .
However I think I should replace the whole panel what do you think???

How bad is the damaged area?? Can it be repaired? If not I would put the whole quarter panel on the car, would be less work and a neater job than trying to do a half cut and join operation.
Personally I would have a go at repairing the damage first, it may need a lot of reworking but it might be worth the effort in the long term.

I thought I would have to make them and mig them on.
Pete the roof gutter is also u/s along-side the rear pillar and the verticle r/h side of rear window is also in need of repair. I think it would be easyer to replace the hole panel as the previous repair at lower section of the rear panel is badly stretched
and rusted through.

My preference would be to R&R the whole quarter, much easier to get everything lined up properly too and less seam welding is always good.

I've never had second thoughts like this before, however I did it.
This is really the best way to do it.
