I am amazed esp as you say they are not finished yet.
Speechless
I had better get them back off you and over to Struggler to ensure they are ok before you go too far mate.

Like in the compressor housing I did... how would you get into the section circled... especially if it was a rough cast part?

I all so I have a drill with an a flex arm that I got at big W (you cant use at hi speed ) that gets into spots like that
but as I said sand first as much as you can and then just buff up

And changing wheels when thers nothing left I do clean them with a wire brush
When thay get really low I take off the plastic on both sides of them so I can use them in hard to get at spots on my drill

they were polished alloy, but got left on the motor under a carport for a week or two, then copped a wee bit of overspray and then sat for a while.
I wax and greased them to start, but there were still tonnes of marks on them, so I hit them with the white josco compound and one of the wheels I had (sort of a compressed cotton?)
It was comming up ok, but now after a final polish, in the sun it has "lines" from where the wheel has missed tiny little sections and some spots where the fine scratches from the compound dont match etc.
Would an orbital buff work on larger flat surfaces? (like the tops of the rocker covers?)
also, I cant seem to find any decent polishing stuff in bunnings, they have a bunch of little (up to about 4 inch) wheels, but nothing larger (these are in the same spot as the josco blocks etc)
Where abouts in your local bunnings do you usually find the bigger wheels?
