Have had a look through some old posts, but not found what I'm looking for.

I am recall someone had compared different stub axles from different model kingswoods, like hq, hj, hx one tonner, etc etc, and found some to have a little more meat in them than others. I was hoping to find out which of these were the stronger, so I can begin searching for some.

Thanks in advance!!

Dave

And as Rory has kindly discovered for us, they are stronger because of the heat treating, not 'extra meat' in them.

I ran out and picked up a set of 1 tonner stubs after he pointed this out to me as I have now worked out how I can use these in my custom setup rather then CRS drop stubs.

You want the ones with the 'Blueing' on the stub from the heat treating.

Thanks [email protected] those Sat mornings at the wreckers stuffing around finally paid off.The one on the left is the HX/A9X ones though they are both seriously thicker than HQ ones. The others came out of a WB 1 ton ute.

I mustn't have seen any HQ ones before then, all the H series stubs I have actually seen have looked the same except the blue bit on some of them.

I'll have to keep a look out.

Snicker!...Took me a while to get it as well..Have an engineering works near me so I spoke to Dave and he said in a nano second..Who heat treated these?...Then it all fell into place. Plus my 4th year metalwork class dropped back in my head ...we did the same thing as an exercise.
