Difference in Flare kits

I have a 2 door LX, It currently has the flares around the wheel arches. Front spoiler was missing at the time. I have run a search through each topic to see if has been discussed before, but no luck, although i did come across some numbers to call to replace the front spoiler.
I was wondering is there any difference between the flare kits supplied on the L34 or A9X or SS, or are they all basically the same. Is there any markings on the Flares themselves that would tell me what type it is?
I have read the SS came out wih a one piece, is this true, or did they come out with 2 piece front spoilers.
Could you get a SS without the spoiler and flare kit, or was it standard when released?
Regards,
Sasa

I am actually after a new front spoiler too for my SS, and the only place I've found that does them (1 piece in fibreglass) is Spoilertek, $225 delivered.

The A9X/L34 spoilers were the two-piece ones, and I believe they were the same as those fitted to SLRs as well.
I think all SSs had the front spoiler originally, but you see SSs without them all the time so I am not 100%
Most people replace the one piece plastic SS spoilers with 2-piece jobs if they damage the originals. I think it's cheaper/easier to find the 2-piece SLR/L34/A9X style ones.
There is one set of factory style rear flares for a hatch. A9X style. But others have been made. Such as the ones that don't go down past the lowest body line. I think they are all the std. width and main shape. But many aftermarket jobs have been made over the years and I don't think anyone knows perfectly.
There are two sets of factory style flares for a sedan, L34 style and A9X style. L34 ones are not as wide as A9X ones, and none of them go the whole way down to the bottom of the sills like the hatch ones. But once again, many aftermarket ones have been made. You can tell which is which by the position of the lowest bolt - A9X flares have the bolts continuing along the edge where-as L34s have a little lip at the bottom with a bolt in the middle of it.
As far as I know, there is only one set of factory style front flares throughout the range. Same width as the rear flares of an L34. I think they all have an L-bend at the bottom where the SL/R spoiler fits in. But some aftermarket ones have been made to curve in (in order to not be fitted with a front spoiler at all) smoothly at the bottom.

SS & LX SL/R 5000 shallow one piece plastic spoiler (brake ducts are just cutouts, no depth, and overall spoiler is not as deep.
A9X - Two peice deep spoiler.
All front spoilers are the same, i.e. there is not a flared version. For flares, the back return piece is just cut off.
Flares are different between the L34 and A9X, but it is only the rear flare. Have a look at the angles between front and rear. If the same angle from the body then L34 flares, if the rear angle is greater, then A9X.
That's the way I ID them.

I recently contacted Spoilertek looking for an SS style spoiler also. I attached a photo to show what I was after, and they got back to me saying they don't do the SS style ones.
I'm guessing that is a 1 piece A9X style you were quoted on L31SS?
If anyone here knows of a place who does do the SS style spoilers, please let us all know.

My single piece A9X style front spoiler fits better than any 2 piece one I have ever seen and after having fitted both types the single piece is easier to fit as well as it is one less thing you have to worry about getting lined up - you know the 2 halves fit together properly.
At best, the whole spoiler and flare thing on these Troanas was a half arsed ill fitting last minute slap together so anything that can be done to improve the fit and reduce the number of joins is a good thing.
I got my front one spoiler from Milton Performance who I belive was getting them made locally - not sure if they are re-opening or not or where Andrew was getting them from.
Just think how many other types of cars had their front spoilers made in 2 pieces - I can't think of any off the top of my head. That says something to me.
If I was you I would just buy the spoilertek sinle piece one from ebay and give it a lash - then you can tell us all how it fits. It's not like they cost the earth or anything.

My one piece spoiler (Poor fit drivers side):-
A9X/L34 2 piece (I fitted this one):-
EDIT: You've posted this twice. Riverina Torana Club has a contact for the guy that makes Torana spoilers for most of the other resellers. Give them a bell, or PM Rob5000 to come up with the good oil.

I started thinking about it, i came across a LX SS selling in the Trading Post from a company in Beverley hills, Autostyles, its got the full kit on it with front 2 piece and 3 piece rear. With a set of GTS Wheels. Is this setup based on the A9X.
If so, Which wheels came out on the SS?
I drive past a LX SS every morning on the way to work at Tyco, every morning, my eye shoots straight over to see if it is there. Very Nice and original. Did the Front and rear bumpers come out color-coded when released or an optional, The one selling in the trading post has all chrome, a couple of others i have seen are color coded.

The one in the Trading Post would be an A9X mock-up effectively.

Toranamat, I'm not just going to fork out $225 if I have doubts about whether the product I'm after or not is correct!

So both SS and A9X would have come out with HQ patterns.

So if it is an A9X why is it badged with SS, does anybody know the reasoning for this. Story of how it came about.
With the A9X, would there have been a Badge on the grille, not talking about SS badge, Would it have been the holden symbol, or just plain with nothing on it. What about the steering Wheel, What would that have had? And the Fascia of the Ashtray.
Is there any sites with pictures of an original A9X, or if someone has some that can be posted, i am after shots of the interior mainly. Exterior would be great too.

The A9X hatch's had "SS" badge on grill I think, definately had an "SS" ashtray. I think they just kept all the "SS" stuff because it was effectively the next model up, and the term "A9X" was never going to be advertised. I think the horn buttons were plain black grain.
The A9X sedans had the Holden badge on the grill I think, definately had an "SL/R" ashtray, and the blank horn button was carried through as well I believe. But the sedan said "SLR 5000" on the ducktail, the same as the LX L31 sedan, but not on the sills because the paint scheme would have interrupted the flares.
