I need a remote brake booster set up in my LJ as there is bugger all room left on my firewall for the booster. I have been told I can opt for a remote brake booster setup which can mount in the boot?? Is this correct?
Anyhow what is involved? Is it correct i need a VH40 booster? where would i buy one? A brake and clutch place i suspect.
I have HQ discs up front and VN discs out back, would this mean 2 remote boosters? As iv been told.
Thanks guys

Reasonably sure japxu1 had pics of his setup in the boot in his thread.

If you are out of room and wish to delete the original booster and M/C you can fit a single circuit M/C to the firewall, brake and Vacuum line goes to the VH40, then brake lines go left ,right and out the back as previosly described.
The problem comes with the size of pistons in your calipers....if HQ pistons are the same size as VN then its OK...if they are different you will need to set up a proportioning valve.
Some people hide the remote booster under the guard...but Its not a friendly place if you ask me.

It won't work properly and its illegal
You will need 2
Its possible to fit them behind the headlights under the front guards of an LJ
Dags350 has this setup on his car with exactly the same brakes your using Bart
I sell the VH40/44 style boosters for $350 plus brackets and fittings
You want to pick the right one though as they are all different
The ones you need are VH44 based units
Maybe a VH44 for the back and a VH44J for the front
They run different bore sizes and output pressures you see
Ask Dags for pics of his mountings and pipework... should find it helpful

that looks like it may do the trick, although i have to see if even the brake booster bracket will fit on the firewall, if it does (ill check tomorrow) it will do the trick. Will a 7" dual diaphragm booster give you enough clearance?

That booster you ask may be a Ford XA/XB as Terry at Hydroboost told me today Toranas with bigblocks use.
Ring Terry at Hydroboost 03 93904811, he sounds like a nice guy to talk to and very helpfull. http://www.hydroboost.com.au/index.htm

7" Stainless Boosters on eBay
Booster fitting kit from Summit.
SUM-760125
Alloy check valve from Summit.
SUM-G1467
SSBC Billet Aluminium master cylinder from Summit. It has outlets on both sides. I intend to run the lines on the RHS of the master.
SSB-A0468-2
I did buy the SSBC adjustable proportioning valve SSB-A0730 but found it did not have a brake fail indicator switch (ADR 31) so I returned it and bought a Classic Performance 4WD proportioning valve and wiring connector from Summit.
CLP-PV-4 ( This part number is just the prop valve without wiring, brakets or pipes )
CLP-SP015130
SSBC will have an adjustable proportioning valve with brake fail indicator available early 2008.

As shown in the pics above there isnt much room to play with. Further discussion with Terry at Hydroboost, he recomended using a master cylinder from a Ford which is a high fill, ie a little more compact unit to clear the turbo exhaust pipe or use a master with a remote reservoir.

Any pics of the master cylinder mounted on a LJ without booster would be great; I was told it was like the early model torana's which had no booster.
