I wouldent quiet want 17's...16's tops, would probably prefer 15's.

It says on the website that those rims are available from 15-18" so we could be a go.

17" will allow decent rubber width, 15" is a bit of a struggle to get good width

Agreed, that LJ is hot, I dont think I can afford to be involved in a group buy yet, but thought it would be a good idea for anyone else who may want to.
Perhaps wihthin a couple of years i will be ready.
Personally 17" would be the go.
I think they would look awsome on Tinys Monaro, 18" that is as its a bigger car :spoton:

Ok, just had a look. 15's you can get f*ck all in. But 16's you can get 205 and 225/50's. these will nearly do me i recon.

17's would be nice, but i would like a bit of rubber around my rims guys.

the 17's on that car are not a bolt on fit.

the rear trailing arms have been modified to sit the wheel in the centre of the wheel arch as they dont sit in the centre in a standard lc/lj.

i dont know anymore info than that but the guards are all standard just lips rolled

I would get 17's,if they fit over the front brakes.17-7's on the front & probably 8in wide on the back with 255 wide tyres on back to tuck it up under the std wheelarch,be a tight fit but will look sweet.

Interesting reading about the group buy. My guess would be that this guy is not the equivalent to a K Mart or Bunnings and needs the business just to stay in business. The wheels would be custom made and not mass produced which often gives economy to scale. You can always ask the question though :D

Im guessing the trailing arms are shortened slightly.

I would be right doing that, would only have to shorten the bottom. Have McDonalds bros adjustable uppers :P

But yeah, IMHO it looks to much like a Tonka Toy. 15-16 would be better. Again, IMHO!!!

I think that 15's with 205/55/15's on the back and 195/55/15's dropped on its guts would look the goods!!!

Would throw my speedo out again though :(. Its pretty much spot on with the current combo...

Cheers.

I thought the trailing arms would have to be lengthened to make the wheel sit in the centre.

If you want 15's why not just get HQ GTS rims to begin with.

Tonka toy because its not tucked up under the guard enough.

17x7 would probably ruin the turning already horrendous turning circle?

They would be larger diameter than the standard wheel in 17", even with those tiny profile rubbers.

I'd put narrowish 16's on and tuck them deep under the guard.. same profile as those 17's.

I just presumed you'd be changing your brakes or something...LJ355 had/has HQ GTS rims on his LJ.

They can be modified to 15" relatively easily, though...

Cut the centres out and weld them to 15" rims...

hes a memeber of our torana club down here i dont think he uses this forum.

modifications are just to the rear trailing arms and the guard lip rolled back.

these are the only modifications im pretty sure, as it is a genuine xu-1 but i dont know the specifics of the mods
