I had a few hrs to kill today so i decided to fit my 15 x 7 bathurst globes on to the UFO XU-1
These are infact off Allan Grice's 73 bathurst race car Cessnock Motors Car 19D
Which just happens to be currently under full restoration by Dave Mclean who just happened to be the Mechanic that built this car back in "73" so it will show up in the next 12 mths or so for all to see.
My wheels are on page 106 of Bathurst xu-1 toranas a photographic history.
Hope you like the pics...
cheers UFO XU-1..

15x7s on a 73 LJ torana race car ????

i thought cars had to run same diameter rims as factory and factory track how ever width was allowed to be changed under 73 rules

even HDT pre L34s ran the magnesium 13s from the LJs

looked at page 106 and the wheels do look like 15s as does the XU1 on page 120

is this the same car that was a part of the Bowden collection that they sold about 3 years ago, was painted in bond 24c war paint with its original cams log book but had also been reshelled. was being sold by oldtimers on behalf of bowdens for 55K.

and FLY thanks for the clip but still dosnt say if wheel diameter was free.

cheers

in 73 brock ran 8 and 9 inch so width was free , but i,d say grice would have ran these wider than 7 inch ..

gtrxu1 , yes you are correct bowdon did sell this car off and was reshelled back in the day but wasnt recorded on the log book .. i remember when it was for sale it was in hdt livery .

ps .. nice wheels ufo..

yes thats right it was a bowden car once but was sold off a guy in sydney now owns it but it is being restored by dave mclean now being painted shortly.
The wheels that will be on the car will be the other set of wheels that it raced with 13 inch mawlers painted black..
Cheers Red for the comment the hoist really makes it easy no more on the floor.
Wheels will stay put with me..
Hows it goin Shaun will catch up soon.
