Hey Mr NOS, that car is a 1976 car, no Hatch in 1976. The 1977 Brock Hatch was blue and yellow not blue and red.

Put it up on there earlier today, created some debate but got a good reception I thought...

Good news Rory, I've got to try and get some interested guys in SA as well. We'll just keep chipping away at it...

Who is keen to take a trip to nz, and have a look at what they do with the central muscle car events, sometime next year. Good for some ideas, and anyone that is interested in this replica class, we can meet to talk about it over a few beers.

I'd be keen, would love to check out those CMC cars and see how they go about doing things... are they coming back to the muscle car masters again?

Will have to see how the budget goes next year...

This thread has been great reading and would be great to see the catagory up and running. I know I'll go to see these cars race and take photos. I wish I could out there runningas well. I'm having enough trouble getting the rebuild of my old Hatch going/finished yet building another one to race with. One can only dream or watch others with envy.

keep an eye out for an old "club car" 3J or hillclimber.. They are out there.. relatively cheap for what you get....
They are hard to sell nowdays, as the speeds in 3J are way up so nobody want a non-competetive old dinosuar!
You will most likely have to mod it some. But I'd be surprised if you couldn't have a decent one on the track for around $10K.
Keep in mind though that racing is very addictive..... so buy the best car you can afford in the 1st place as it is expensive to upgrade once the bug bites. And it will bite.. I don't know of one racer who has ever said "yeah next year I am going to slow the car down a bit" :spoton:
Cheers Greg..

The tech rules are pretty basic....but its all premepted by the statement of..we are running this in the spirit of having fun/comeraderie..etc etc..in other words...big time cheaters piss off. The judges of fact are 4 of the team owners/drivers...makes sense to me.

a) No vehicles fitted with rotary engines.
B) No vehicles fitted with four- wheel drive.
c) No vehicle with mid or rear mounted engines.
d) Vehicles must be a recognised production car of one hundred or more units, with six, eight cylinders or 12 cylinders.
e) No Japanese vehicles

I like those rules

Rx7 ran legally in groupC.
If you are serious then you must allow them a start as well.....
Same goes for the Camaro.
Their were even some Alfa's.....
Let's keep it simple and non-descrimatory hey..... :D

Cheers Greg..

I agree, we dont want to exclude anyone who might be interested, getting numbers on the track is the only way we are gonna get it off the ground. As long as they are a replica of something that raced in the period, then they should be allowed... and variety of cars is one of the things that made group c/a interesting.

With the exception of the 9 Camaro I meant 64/5 Mustangs and the like.

^ agreed.. Pony cars weren't part of the period at all.....
But if you are going to include GroupA then you are going to have to let in the Fox body Mustang, like the green one that DJ ran in 1988.
Also if you include groupA (suggest you would to help numbers) be prepared to have your ass handed to you often, as a well sorted GroupA car is going to be a much better race car than a groupC car.....
But that is not what it is all about right...... :stirpot: :tease:

Cheers Greg..
