Just recieved an email with the attached pic's of a new airless tire.
Thought you guy's would be interested?
The text below is from the email, i have added it chapter and verse.

Radical new tire design by Michelin.
The next generation of tires.
They had a pair at the Philadelphia car show.
These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these tires.
This is what great R&D will do, and just think of the impact on existing technology:
a. no more air valves
b. no more air compressors at gas stations
c. no more repair kits
SCAN DOWN & SEE.
These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin.
It will be awhile before they are available to the automotive industry.

Wondered if it might have been posted before, I looked back a little & didnt find anything.

I agree, they look a bit weird, they need a side wall, even for austhetics.

these type of tyres been around since the 1920's
I have a brochure for "trouble pruf" tyres that I found in a factory clean up.

So it would seem that there is nothing new in automotive engineering just better ways to do the old things
