but mate theoretically the surge tank should be full at all times so this shouldn't be a issue how ever i see where your coming from and will change it..

The sole purpose of a surge tank is that theoretically it will not be full at all times because the lift pump is not always able to pickup fuel.

If you can guarantee the pickup from the fuel tank will never suck air then you do not need a surge tank. Cars with fuel cells or fuel sumps often to not require a surge tank.

If the UC tank is similar to the LX tank then you would need to keep it about 1/3 full to guarantee fuel supply under acceleration.

mate the guys i use to go to school with have asked me that bloody question everyday for the past 6 months haha this weekend could be the time! lets hope the engine still works lol

Hi
I totaly know the feeling, i stated on mine and it took 6 months longer to finish (i know its not that hard) but i had to help my uncle finish his LJ XU1 (painted but not one bolt on it)for my wedding and the blokes at work going have you got it going yet DOH!

well guys it was all ready to fire friday night but it wont go! :( the engine wines over but wont fire :angry: we have replaced the coil still nothing theres power to it but no spark at the leads.. any one got any ideas?

yeah it will be the hall effect pick up or connection in/on the dizzy, or ignition module on inner guard.

dizzy connection feels dodge... could be that can u get replacement ones? anyone else got any other ideas?

Could be a dicky ignition module, can you borrow one from someone to test, I know that motor traders outlets sell them for about $120, These are a common fault with the Inj 5L not sparking.

Pays to check all wire conections, mine would start (spark at plugs though) but then stall as ignition pulse wire in computer loom fell out.

ok its been like for ever and still cant get the thing to work :furious: :furious: :furious: im F'd off big time! lol auto electrition is coming again tomorrow night with a replacement module and i got to source a new plug for the distributor (hard to get so ive been told)

not going to well :cry:

man it sounds tough :P









but.... lots of engine noise we didnt have heaps of time to look at it but oil didnt seem to be getting to the top of the motor... we had it going for 1 minute max would it normally take longer? :<_<:


but man it sounds great will get vid up soon

There's a trick to priming the oil pump in those engines especially if it's had the sump off for a while. Can any remember the trick?
