Finally got the car back from the panel beaters after 12 months. I told them I was going away with work for 6 months and to have it ready by when i got back. Typical panel beaters hadn't even started it. After numerous final calls I finally picked it up yesterday. Still wasn't happy with it when I went to pick it up and the owner wasn't there so I refused to pay the full quoted price and took $1000 of the total.
Anyways this is how she is at the moment. I am moving interstate in 4 weeks so it will probably be on the back burner again for a while. I have an injected 304 to go in this weekend so hopefully I have all the parts to make it fit.

When I first got it.

I will post new photos as things get done. Trying to find the time with a wife and kids is a challenge.

Great project, lookin' good.

Love the colour. Just a bit different to the usual bronzey golds.

What are your plans for the interior?

I too like the paint it's different but classy but then it is used on Brit cars - all class ;)

Looking forward to seeing it with some nice wheels it will look a treat.

When I went to inspect the car and pick it up, I found a few chips where they put the panels back on, they hadn't painted the bolts after putting the panels on, The rear spoiler isn't sitting right so I will have to fix that, the nose cone doesn't line up properly. Just little things, but a lot of them. Means i'll have to fix these before I do anything else to the car.
I am moving from Townsville to Darwin with work in four weeks so I hope there are plenty of parts available up there as I don't have too many at the moment.
I'm not really sure what to do with the interior yet. The dash pad I have isn't the greatest so I was thinking of fiberglassing a new one to fit all the gauges and cd/dvd etc. I have an efi engine to go in so it's far from original plus I have no ID plates for it (should make for an interesting time come registering it). I am going with it's an lx because that's the nose cone it has.
I am still unsure what to do with brakes as it has drums on the back and I would prefer all round discs. Plus I will need some decent size wheels to fill the guards up (16"-17").
I think I will be a regular shopper on this forum and ebay for a while. Hopefully I will be sent on a taxpayer funded holiday next year and make enough money to finish it off.
Cheers

Good stuff Homer. Lovely looking beast, still looks very clean in my opinion. And the colour is nice. Will look great with some chrome to break up the dark duco :)

That colour looks fantastic.

In the last pictures you have the small UC salisbury?--Won't fit LX.

Or is there something changed in the rear floor pan??

:D

The Salisbury has been modified to fit an LX. I am not sure what diff is in the car at the moment (I havn't had a good look). It is an ex burnout car and the diff is locked. It is a pain in the butt to move around as both wheels want to turn at the same speed.

It looks like the upper trailing arms have been bent/modified to make them fit the Salisbury. I am sure I read somewhere that this is a bad idea as it alters the geometry of the rear suspension.

Congrats on the colour. It looks great! Can't wait to see it finished...

Is it going to be an auto or manual?

And remember, eBay is your friend!!! I've bought a few things on eBay for good prices as well.

Cheers,
Brett

It will be automatic as the T700 is still attached to the engine to go in. I would probably prefer manual but beggars can't be chooses. I would like to rebuild the engine and gearbox anyway. Future plans are to get the engine rebuilt and supercharged. Later next year hopefully, all going well.

hi homer

your project is moving along nicely.
just interest in the salisbury diff and what mods you have made to fit it in,
for example where do did you obtain the bent upper arms because i am trying to fit a salisbury in my car.

The upper arms don't seem to be "bent" as such, they seem to be made that way, however my Father-in-law has welded some extra brackets on them to make them a bit stronger. I actually got the diff, traumatic gearbox, and a heavily worked 308 off him for nothing. The diff already had the arms attached when he bought it many years ago. He was going to build a slr5000 mock up but he left the body sitting in his back yard for too long and the rust ate it away. I was going to use the 308 as it has been taken out 60thou over and is a bit of a weapon, but changed my mind and decided to go efi. So now the 308 is gathering dust under my house.
