All depends on who's making it & doing the bodywork but I hear ya on flexibility, fair call!

Carbon fibre could be great but it's exxy and the fact it would be a one-off would make it definitely not the cheapest solution.

Ha-ha Mr-t,ive got a "VL" engine so im "fully sick" already :badabing:......... (taximum) lol

Yeh Heath,im sure someone could make a decent glass one with a perfect finish, but how much would it weigh and how much would it cost ?

Anyway i prefer the idea of still having a real all steel car, even if it does come with a hint of rice ! :P

i'm surprised how well my RB is lasting for an engine i got from the wrecker(my feather weight gearbox too!)

gotta love modern day engineering (even if it is 20 years old)

I don't know how much it would weigh exactly, but they are light enough to be worth screwing around with if you want to go fast. A good one street bonnet could cost you about $600 though. The one I am planning on putting on my blue car will set me back around $350

Well..... i have some good news and some bad news....

Good news is..... nobody got hurt...

The Bad news is.....the car ive owned for over 15yrs (mumstaxi) is no more.......a total write-off. :RIP:

Ive been a little slow to post as my PC, (a laptop) was in the car at the time, and suffered a broken screen in the crash, i don't wish to get into finer details about what exactly happened (things are not all finalised etc), but basically, its concrete barrier =1, UC travelling @100ks =0, in legal terms driver error could be seen as the cause, was not caused by any form of "hooning", but the road was wet, some other people (in other cars) were doing the wrong thing however, the incident would not have happened if they obeyed all the driving laws, but ultimately i have to and will, accept responsibility for all the "custom panel work" the UC now possesses.

Get some pic's up when i can,i saved it from the scrap heap 10 years ago, when it got writen-off once before, but the ole girl wont be coming back from this one, front is toast,ENG got pushed into firewall (block cracked), chassis bent ,roof kinked, rear quarter bent etc etc (toast)

Im really not as upset as i perhaps should be, i guess as much as i loved the car, im so happy that it absorbed all the impact and took the damage, saving the occupants from what could have been so much worse, after all, metal is "much" easier to replace than skin ! :)

So...Anyone wanna buy a UC bonnet ! (he-he)
mmmm..... Mumstaxi "2" may need it yet ? :dontknow:

Aww bloody hell Steve. That is a big shame mate. Yours is\was one of my favourite UC's.

Good to hear that no one was hurt though. Did Cartman survive?

As Pete said, if there is anything I can do to help, let me know.

You should be glad that you had it out at Powercruise with the video camera etc because at least you and many other keen fans (such as myself) will be able to look back at the footage and remember it. It was definitely a car that I was into, and I hope the incident hasn't scared you off having a modified car, and I sincerely hope you stick around and show us what you can come up with next :)

I reckon if there's anything worse than having any self-built car stolen/destroyed, it's having one stolen/destroyed without you getting a chance to enjoy it! So consider yourself lucky in that sense, because I think those videos put a big stupid grin on everyone's face.

Dude, that's the worst news I've heard in a while! Good that no one was hurt though.

That car was awesome and I'm sad to see it reduced to the scrap heap, but I'm also eager to see what you come up with next!

I tried calling you tonight but couldn't get through, I'm keen to talk to you to make sure you're ok and get the full story.

If you are after a new block, let me know. Otherwise I'm keen to get some advise from you as well.

Cheers Steve, hope all else is well with you and yours,

Zac

Finally got round to the pic's of how NOT to shorten a UC, sorry its taken so long, been very busy with stuff (not torana related) plus had to get a new PC etc after mine got smashed in the crash

The pic's dont look as bad as the car does in real life (as is often the case),there is more damage that is not shown (including underneath), in some pic's you may see i have changed the front wheels and tyres to allow the car to be moved, as they got bent pretty bad.

You cant really see just how distorted/twisted the whole car is, but look at the first pic and keep in mind this car was not lowered at all (standard springs), it is so low now,i can no longer get a standard trolley jack under the front crossmember without lifting the car first (and to think,i used to change the oil without jacking car up it was that high, lol) the rear suspension also appears to be lower,i assume due to chassis/diff bend ?

Oh and you'l be happy to know Mr-T......yes, Cartman is still with us (see 5th pic.....bet he sh*t his pants tho !)

I'm really sorry to hear this news mate, it was a top car that you built yourself. I love the dyno vid with the estimates of 136 hp, called their bluff nicely. A proper sleeper in the true sense of the word.
Glad to hear everyone is ok, and good luck should you choose to build MT2.

Yeowch!

the roof dent should pop out with a hit from the underside, Dunno bout the rest, perhaps Scratch X.

Im not a UC Man, But i watched in amazment the footage on youtube and i must say I did love what i saw.

How did the driveline hold up to the impact, Is is salvagable or atleast the engine?

This only calls for bigger and better things to come in TAXI 2.0
