Hey mate I'd heard of your car years ago from friends of friends when I was just a youngun playing with my Turbo 173!

Ha,cool...Its amazing how many people remember the car from years ago, funny part now is, they come up and say "is this the turbo one ? " , and i look at them and say "what do YOU, think ?"

Then they look at the car again and say, "oh....... there used to be one that looked like this one but was fast and had a turbo engine"......... HA!

Might have to have a turbo Torana meet up at Munchies in the next few weeks hey?

For sure mate, let me know next time your heading out that way and i'm there !

And 400hp on 185's sounds fun...I'm juggling just on 300hp on 175's, still needs some more boost though! =D

Mines not quite as bad as you may expect on 185s, have you got a pic of your car & eng bay? (post in this thread)

And...what size exhaust and type of mufflers are you running? I've got a big cam in my LJ and combined with a 3" exhaust and 1 straight through muffler it's almost too loud for a daily driver.

I run a 3 & 1/2 inch dump pipe, into 3 inch pipe through a 200CPI cat , then a 3 inch muffler,then into 2x 2 inch (2x 2 inch pipes would be quite restrictive as only = to about one 2 & 1/2 inch single )

Can't remember muffler brand (Turbo maybe ?) its been on the car for about 10years...

Well the main title is "Turbo Torana"



So pic's of a Turbo Torana are relevent, and as i started the thread i don't think anyone will get very upset.

And you posting pic's here now, will save any "future" readers searching your posts for pic's of your car/engine (as i did)




But if you don't "wan't" to post pic's i understand......

Wow thats a good looking car man !

You would catch a few clowns off guard in that for sure (depending on the exhaust size/noise of course)



We did same sort of EFI set up on my mates VK a few years back ,although yours does look a lot neater........ http://gallery.oldholden.com/turbo6/ ......was a bit bodge ,but it ran 12.5 and that was using the factory VK EFI ECU !




It has now run a 10.7 ,but this is what sits in place of the 202 now......mmmm 2J





Im still only 1 MPH slower with the 30 tho !

Not that it matters a great deal for a weekend car, but i took note of how many Ks travelled to get a idea of what sort of fuel consumption the RB is getting.

With 95% highway,5% city and a few squirts etc, it averaged about 11.5 Litres per 100KLM, i didn't think thats toooo bad, especially for a engine that makes over 400HP ?




Finally got round to getting/posting my 200KPH run on the Tube, you can't hear my car at all, due to the V8 HQ doing a skid/racing at the same time !



I recon by about half track,the guy in the V8 must have thought.... ... his car must have lost power or something ? HA!

Great video. I didn't realize your car looked so stock.

Yeh, ive gone to a lot of trouble to keep it looking VERY stock, its not lowered and doesn't have a huge exhaust/tail pipe like most "supposed" would be "sleepers" seem to have these days ,.............. it even still carries the "Mums Taxi" signs (that have been in the windows for about 12 yrs)



Needs a paint job bad, dispite how clean it may look in pic, top half is stuffed (thus why i haven't bothered to wash it in about 3yrs)

cant believe how well it hooked up on 175's??

Actually, my rears are tha big 185s now Brett, only got a 2.2 60ft time, even tho it was stalled to 3000rpm on the line.



My boost controller turned up today,hope i can get it up and running by the drag day.

If the boost controller all works as i want, lower boost in 1st & 2nd ,meaning i won't have to "short shift" 1st & 2nd to stay off the wall, maybe i can finally crack into the 11s ?


If not, ill just have to turn UP the boost, and go for the "most entertaining run" trophy ! (HA-HA!)

I blew off an intercooler hose on the way to work this morning, scared the shit out of me. Pipe hit the bonnet and made a big bang. :(

When are you taking it out to the drags again?

yeh is is a good feeling to bet v8's in a six although we have no where near the speed you have even better when they wont line up against you after they come over and see a n/a red motor hehe.

I love your uc so much haha looks awesome with the RB in the bay, very clean

wish i could bring mine out to the Gmh-torana drag day, still have no 3rd gear. when i fix it (soon) we will have to go for a cruise somewhere.

i would be up for going to munchies one friday, i can max out to 120km/hr lol . i gave a 550hp supra a good run the other day but i ran out of gears. lol

For sure Nathan, let me know when you have "gears", your car has seen so many mods since the last time i saw it , i look forward to checkin it out (will see if Terrible One is allowed out to play that night too ?)

what pressure are you running in the now massive 185's??

I had good traction @ 30psi with these tyres, however because of the traction issues last time at willowbank i did drop them to 26psi to assist traction.

As i am true to my word about my 1/4 mile time run "exactly" as it is driven on the street, i am now driving around with 26psi so that my run is/was 100% street trim.


I will be experimenting with pressures, so i may change back to a higher psi, but i won't run at the track with a pressure im not prepared to run 100% of the time on the street, i just need to work out what works best.

Yeap, me and Nick (terrible one) had the coolest cars in high school i havent seen yours for a long time, last time i saw it you where putting the new turbo engine together. Im pretty keen to check it out someday.

Well, my car officially turned 30 years old this month thought id better treat it to a wash after all this time, its Birthday present will be new paint job later this year, but it certainly looks a bit better without the 3yrs worth of dirt on it for now




Managed to get myself a bonnet from Milton Performance, as suggested by a couple of forum members (thanks for the tip) and got to meet the nice new owners on their first day of ownership (hope it all works out good for them)







Depending on the weather, i think i will be heading out to Munchies this friday night (19th) if any one is keen to come out ?
