HAH!..Just got what you meant!
Went back and looked at my diff pic...the mounting brackets are actually pivoting about 1"..1 1/4" closer to the rear of the car...not directly under the housing as a std fitment!!..Clever!!
R

Would that be because it it an L34 using HQ arms? Same principle as longer pan hard bar.

The amount of stuff they got away with was amazing!

Correct me here but the P/H basically just holds the housing from moving left and right?..Thats its main job?

^ That is the only job it does, otherwise it is just extra weight.

I was interested that Struggler said he noticed such a huge difference in his A9X when it broke...guess you never know how much they move about until you pin them down.

I was traveling behind a UC (same config as A9X) with big rubber (flares) and a V8 and noticed the whole rear end move near 2" when he hit it, the angled top arms are supposed to stop this movement in a Torana, but i spose this depends on how good your rubbers are and how strong (read reinforced) your arms are.

With your diff, I'm pretty sure a Ford Watt's link would bolt on.

The Ford watts link uses a diff hat with an integral pivot point from memory. Go to the supermarket and look under the back of an XE/F and check. You used to be able to buy them new quite cheaply as they got bent when the car hit a gutter sideways (a common event with Ford owners !!)

I was going to write a long and hepfull post about the ACTUAL differences between WATTS and PANHARD.... But It looks like you guys have it all sorted  :fool:
BTW:I have the utmost respect for Ron Missens work BUT if that is his panhard bracket under the Hodgson car, then from an engineering view point he should be flogged!

Cheers Greg..

Thanks Greg,
Struggler...just read, in the AU they lowered the pivot point as well...

Greg, at what height would be more suitable for the panhard, I'm in the process of putting one together at the moment. I was going to go probably just below the centreline of the diff, and make it a little longer than the one in that last pic.

Thanks,

Dave

Mick,
Pretty sure it is a KMAC bar and Howard bought the brackets/arms only from them for his front bar so guess Kevin will sell you them on their own.

355LX...this is Moots mates car. I am also interested in Gregs suggestions for my location.

Thats the same location as mine, it does push a little on rough roads when the suspension travels.

I was wondering with rock hard race suspension and minimal travel if that would be reduced somewhat.
