It could have just been optioned up... or the previous owner did the mods himself....

AFAIK all Toranas & Sunbirds with a CLX or DLX chassis prefix get the separate handbrake light. It was introduced at the same time as the large cast iron brake master cylinder, in early 1977.

It's notmally a blue ink stamp on the light blue casing, but anyway, if it has the park brake light in the speedo, it's not to suit a 76 car, from memory it was introduced around May 77.i have both clusters out i can ,t see any date codes where are they

This car on muscle cars is a June 76 car, has an ALX chassis number yet it has the handbrake light in the dash, above the petrol/temperature gauge. Does that mean this dash is not original?

Hi ALX76As for the green SLR, origional in every way, what is the dwell switch for next to the demister. Love that 70's stereo.
The wiper dwell switch & a/cond unit are both aftermarket & probably dealer-fitted, but that stereo is an 80s or 90s unit. Stereo units for the 70s were shaft-mounted with 2 knobs protruding. This shaft type disappeared in the mid-80s.
'Original in every way' is a BIG statement to make even though this one is a very nice car. The pedants at a concours event could probably show you a better one, with an original GM Air Chief radio & factory A/Cond that looked just like it did the day it left the factory.
Don't get me wrong, I like period accessories, but when they're fitted, the car is no longer 'original in every way'.

I was having a dig at the stereo.
I did not know they fitted wiper dwell switches back that far, it looks like a Commodore one to me.
If they were ever dealer fitted was there a specified location?
I agree with the "origional in every way" comment, it is a large comment to live upto.

I think that you will find that it isn't a Wiper dwell, it's actually an original fader control that were used when people option for the rear speaker package.
Wiper dwells were used in the UC's
cheers

The knob looks too big to be a factory speaker fader control, that's why I thought it was an aftermarket wiper dwell switch, these were common in the 70s & 80s.
Also, wasn't the factory speaker fader mounted next to the radio in the lower half of the dash facia, I'm sure I've fitted 1 or 2 of these.
