Hey guys yet again more queries sorry ahah.

I'm interested in fitting in some front racing bucket seats in the UC, so I can keep my original ones untouched and perfect nick like they are now.

Ive spotted some nice black racing seats and the owner said they have 'universal rails'.
Does this mean it will fit any car?.
If so, how do I go about removing the front seats in my UC.
I had a peak under but couldn't seem to figure out how it all comes out.

cheers

Pretty hard without seeing the 'universal' rails...

Easiest way to put any seat in a torrie and most other cars is to grab a 3mm thick plate of steel, take the seats off the runners (the torana seats), cut the steel plate to the area of the top of the rails (roughly a square) and drill the bolt holes inline with the original torana seats mounting holes. Then you just mark the holes of the aftermarket seat onto the steel plate and drill them (bolt up from underneath using high tensile bolts). Check if it's legal in your state before starting this mod though :)

I think they bought some flat steel piping. And attached the piping to the seats mounting bolts, and then drilled holes in the piping to suit the torana rails...

That would make sense. Clever thinking. I might have to go about doing that.

Problem I found was the Cobra style seats sit too high on the std Torana rails...I used..of all things...a Laser set of rails...bolted two pieces of flat 3mm steel strap to the seat then into the rails...they sit flat on the floor at the rear but needed spacing up at the front to get the angle right.

^ Yeah, i am worried that my seats might sit a bit too high. Mainly cos the rails in the torana seats a kind of recessed.

But ill be fitting mine in the next few weeks, so i see how i go...

Well, I fitted my seats today! I was planning to use the Torana rails and modifying them... But as Rory said, they sit way too high! So i went to the wreckers and picked up a set of Laser rails like Rory suggested! These worked perfect! Good Find mate!

Here is a pic!

Damn, LXSS those seats are SEX!. Nice work. So its best to fit in some ford laser seats and go from there. And yea I was thinking the same thing the torana rails sit pretty high.

that picture of the rails is of my seats not t0ranas's , and that lazy b$%^# does nothing on toranas at all...

if there those new saas style seats those metal rails iv used may be a tad high, unless your real short. 1/2" thick slabs of alloy with countersunk bolt heads would be the go if i did another set of seats.

No worries mate...I studied heaps at the wreckers and had a rough idea of heights I needed..

dragging this old thread up again, do the laser rails fit to the std torana mounts, or are new holes required?
