Hey guys.

As you know, if you put a BC scoop on a 202, because the carb is ofset to the side, the scoop would sit there normally.

I have been trying to find a way around it for my car

does this seem feesible?? The picture should be pretty self explanitory

any help much appreciated :)

Nathan

Air flow will be severely restricted unless it sits a long way off the rocker cover and then you will probably be able to see around it through the hole in the bonnet, and that will probably look pretty tacky, until you open the bonnet and then it will look like the poxiest setup ever. Setting up the linkages etc would be pretty difficult as well, in fact even the 'frame' wouldn't be that easy.

Just offset a scoop or set up some kind of under-bonnet cold air setup I reckon.

Thanks heath, i did think airflow would be restricted and that you could see the piping through the hole.

Got me thinking, maby i could run the "pipe" over the top of the rocker cover from the rear, then bring it up??

i dont know...this was just one of those brain farts extended into a typical nathan "idea" ;)

thanks, Nathan

While it might be restricted.....the 202 would be flat consuming the air that goes thru one of those holes..let alone 3....whats wrong with an offset scoop?

So it wouldnt really affect my performance with it piped? Im not fussed about looks under the bonnet, its nothing people usually see anyway.

i dont know, dont really like the look of the scoop on one side of the car :D

why do you want it centred? so it looks like a v8? so like 16 years can be like "omg bro i beat this v8 torana today"

Lol, no i just like the lok of the scoop, but like my 202 aswell..;)

whypsi, yes yours looks good, but my car is getting 2 stripes down the center of the car, it wont look very "symetrical" with an offset scoop

I'm not a fan of bug-catchers in general, so I am biased against hte whole idea LOL but don't make me put you off. It is good for people to come up with unique and original ideas. This particular one just strikes me as kinda pretending it's a V8 when it isn't if that makes sense...

Admittedly though, I don't think WHY-PSI's scoop looks half bad (and remember I don't like offset scoops or bug catchers generally), maybe give that idea a chance?

Your call, just being a bastard as usual

EDIT: OMG 3 posts were made in the time that I was lazily writing that responce. Ignore that. I agree with Luke haha I'm just trying to cut down on the bluntness of my responses, and therefore toned mine down into a more calm, composed manner :P

you sound a little like me, I think I have some mild form of obsessive compulsive disorder, I like to have things symetrical too. I also line things up without even noticing Im doing it. lol

Ditto^^ lol

i have no intentions heath of making a 202 "v8" lookalike...:D

i just like the scoop centred, if my car didnt have symetrical stripes down the centre, i would of had an off set scoop long ago :D

Why not put the offset one above the carb, then put a fake offset one on the other side....

Wala, symetrical. You also have an air cooled dissy.

Cheers.

If your going to cut holes in bonnets and stripe the centre of the car there is a simple engineering solution to your quest it is called a V8
No offence WHY PSI your car looks pretty f$#%en tough to me with offset scoop :spoton:

The offset scoop does look phat, its very well balanced with the offset stripe on the other side. Plus its a good idea because it gives better vision than having a mountain of metal in the middle of your car. People just aren't used to seeing offset hardware. Usually things where people have "dared to be different" are pretty much just bad taste. But in this case it's worked out very well.

Cheers

XW GT's had the offset scoop, and it looked tough as! I remember photoshopping the XW scoop onto a torana for someone a while back and it looked good! Then i photoshopped two scoops on (ala new Monaros) and it looked even better!

Have you got the stripes on the car yet? i might have some photoshop ideas for you...

MRLXSS, thats some good photoshops you got there. No i dont have the car painted, the next step is paint, but was deciding on a scoop first. I pretty much had my heart set on symetrical stripes, if you had any ideas that would be great! :D *trying to picture the scoop on the photoshops* hmm..

just for those who dont know, my car is a UC Sedan, bash the uc's all you like but i quite like them :P
