Am just curious to know, has anyone here ever had to make a claim with Shannons? How did it go, were they good to deal with, quick in getting everything sorted?

I see they do home insurance now.

I have had 2 claims, both on daily drive cars, not on Toranas (touch wood)

They were bloody fantastic both times.

They now have my home and contents too.

Good prices, fantastic claims service, nice people. And they know what a Torana is.

Yeah I had to make a claim. Ive got the torana with them and contents insurance with our home.
I made a claim when our house got broken into, and they were good. The case manager that dealt with us was really good. He kept us updated with everything that was happening. The insurance company that they go thru took a little while in trying to get quotes for some collectible stuff that was taken that was difficult to get a quote for. The shannons rep called us and was shocked at the time taken so he personally got onto it for us.
No troubles with the payouts either which was good.
But yeah I was pretty happy with them.

My brother's panel shop has done a number of repairs on behalf of Shannon's. He describes them as easy to work with and understanding of older cars.

A friend of mine just had a garbage truck swipe his classic car. Shannon's wrote it off (it was an old but low mileage/good condition Fiat) he then got to keep the 'wreck' and will fix it himself over time. He also described them as easy to work with.

I currently have four cars insured with them, two Torana's, my '59 Fc, and my daily driver. My 6 month old daily driver was recently hail damaged and they gave me a claim number easily, and have chased me up twice because I've been too busy to get a PDR quote.

All good from what I hear. I don't they could afford to muck around guys with older cars as its such a large part of their business and word would spread quickly if they started stuffing people around.

Thanks for telling me your experiences guys. I have two cars insured with them and will more than likely now get the house insured with them. They are definately good and friendly to deal with from my experiences.

Its good to see Shannons doing the right thing. Not to throw a horror story in but I had my Porsche insured thru them a few years ago, cost me a packet in premiums and when I had an at fault accident, what a hassle I had trying to get the repair done, took weeks to get the assessor out and this is after the car was taken to the crash shop, then the car sat for 6 months with no repairs done in their approved workshop, cost me $1000 excess as well, and numerous phone calls (Shannons didnt seem to follow up with what was happening or they didnt care, they had my money), ended up going to get the car myself and took it to another crash shop had the car back in less than a week, paid the crashy less than my excess for the repairs, I was happy.
Cancelled my insurance policy and went elsewhere and got a better deal, saved some money in the excercise as well. Even today looking at insuring the Torrie I hesitate in going to Shannons, not that I wont given that there is not much choice with classic cars anyway.

I can't understand why some are complaining about the excess at the time of the claim, My policies with them all have fixed excess so there's no suprises, and if the fix is cheaper than the excess then only a peanut would make a claim anyway????

OR is there some policies you guy's have that dont disclose the excess until you claim???
