Has anyone got a simple way to install front "seriously stiff" springs into an LJ GTR XU1. I am replacing the stock with king springs and cant practically use spring compressors or similar because of room and am struggling to get a method. Any help would be appreciated.

I clinched the springs to put them in with a press and made clips, but the clips will not release even with car jacked and three mates on top of guard!!!

Cheers

Great minds, i actually have bought the threaded rod, and was going to use the top off an old shockie for the LJ and weld it on and run bolt through it at top, so will just resign my self to doing this and get on with it. CHEERS!!!

Option two is to make a big clamp to compress the arms together like dad did for me.

Two U shapped pieces of steel (would be at leaste 1/4" thick) and 2 massive threads with nuts.

I have never had any dramas using a prybar on the bottom of the spring to get it into place and a jack under the lower ball joint.
A bit different if the crosmember is on the floor.

Cheers mate, some methods of claimping are also just clamping the rotor assy up and could i guess crack the castings of the pieces that allow the rotor to pivot .

But thanks for your reply.

just adding these pics for future reference.

searched the site but no pics of this homemade job, which was described somewhere
i used 500mm of M10 threaded rod from bunings, 2x washers and nuts. plus the bar with hole in the centre.
cut the end off the old shock and had it welded to the end of the threaded rod.

worked great

I remember when I did mine out of the car I just stood on the top of it with my big size 14 boots and had someone stick the nut on...don't ever remember it being that much of a struggle!
