Sorry, I had to go searching for the bits. The Sunbird surround does have a crack in the rear section, I will plastic weld that up before i part with it so you can't see it.

The consoles are the same,, it's the surround thats different. The Sunbird one has holes at the rear of the surround though to mount it, thats all.

Pre RTS and LH had the flip up lid.
LH would have been black, LX was silver. Sorry i don't have one of these consoles to add to the pictures.

There is another type of console set-up that I have never seen anywhere except in my car (until it was stolen from work)
It sat in front of the manual gearshift boot and clipped/screwed into the space normally occupied by the "coin holder/flip-up lid/hollowed space" that was found in various other mid length consoles.
The difference was that this piece was similar to the switch panel in a full length console. It had the 3 switchblanks and was painted in the SS silver.
The f*&^%^ng swine who pilfered mine also took the shifter boot/surround/gasket and even the screws.
I wish I had taken a photo as everyone I have talked to thinks I must have been confused with the full length console. I still have the console the bits were stolen from and it is definitely not.
Please post a picture if anyone has one
Willing to commit heinous acts to get my hands on one (or the bloke that stole it!!)

ROYALPLUM, I'd like to know more about this, how about that picture?

Hey guys im looking to put a console in my car, but im not too sure which surround i need. Its a Tremec 5spd manual V8 LH sedan but the shifter sits further back than normal. Car did have an aussie 4spd from factory but we had to cut the hole a bit further back for the tremec. Any ideas what i should be looking for?

Cheers.

Very early LX had the flip up lid painted in SLR silver. LH SLR had a black cover on the lid.

Didn't the LH SL/R have dark timber grain on the console lid to match the dash fascia.

AFAIK it was the SL/R5000 that had a black console lid (& dash), the same as LH S models.

Just to clarify as i can see some assumptions have been made. Yes LH SLR with 202 & 253 had the flip lid in walnut brown. The LH SLR 5000 had the black insert and the early LX SLR 5000 had the fip lid but it was silver not black.
