I've got some blackout to do around the tail lights and windows aswell. After the final colour coat would it be ok to wait around 15 minutes and then mask up the areas or will this damage the paint?

running out of time now to get the whole thing painted today. I was thinking of maybe doing hard to get to bits, such as guard lips, inside boot area, lower sills, plenum area, maybe engine bay tonight. Would this cause any problems when I go back to paint the rest tomorrow?

Question one, No, you cant, the paint will peel off.
Question two, thats fine. Just mask them up before you spray or they will look funny.
But you would be better off painting your blackouts tonight then masking them up tomorrow and spraying the body colour...Just my opinion.

Getting a bit late now i'll have to do the blackouts first thing tomorrow morning. How long should I wait before I can mask them up?
Thanks

A couple of days???
But you wont like that response. As long as you can. A 2-3 hours should suffice, but you will NEED to use 3M low tack masking tape. Its coloured blue and very good stuff. Hopefully that wont take the paint with it.
Cheers.

Not sure cause i have never tried it, but the next day should be ok....
Seriously though you shoulda set two full days aside, first day to get everything absolutely ready the next to paint it.
Mind you, i painted my jappa on a weekend where i was wroking in a diferent city both nights, that was a challenge. Sleep???
Cheers.

Great tips and insights, I'm doing a bit of spraying at the moment something I haven't done in a few years and its great to reaffirm and crib some processes. thanks guys
