It makes sense that any prototype or brochure car would be Elizabeth assembled, but I never thought about the body being constructed in Dandenong, although that does make sense as LH's were built in Dandenong. I wonder if the brochure LH's were Elizabeth or Dandenong bodies? Does ALX00012A wear a VIN tag? It's odd for it to not be on the 'fiche - if it's there it should be amongst the LH's.Definitely an early hatch but certainly doesnt fit the idea that it is one of two prototypes if we can take the numbers as being sequential. The Papaya hatch i know of is ALX000012A. September 1975 compliance with Adelaide chassis number but Melbourne body plate. It is not in a Museum and i doubt the car you looked at is the other one to a pair. I have seen ALX000070 which from memory was Dec 1975 compliance. What is the compliance date of the one you looked at? I wonder where it falls in relation to the others? Assuming it is Royal Plum it may have been the SL in the Video if they did a batch of papya first. The #70 car was Papaya. I believe number 12 doesnt appear on the fische but is one number after the example given in the parts & assessories manual.

I do too, but not just for Toranas. I've found a few early Monaros over the years, like HT 437 #1, Pagewood HG 737 #1, Pagewood HK 1837 #2, Acacia Ridge HX GTS #1. I remember reading somewhere that many of the first run cars were sold off to GMH employees, or used as pool cars if not destroyed. The car has all three tags. Papaya SS 6 cylinder 4 speed with slate black interior. I always keep an eye out for 75 model cars and low chassis numbers. Only problem is that the compliance date doesnt always reflect the build date.
