How did this forum come about? Does anyone know it's history from it's beginning?

Tim(V8Gent) created this site after building his SS Torana Hatch Agent Orange.

Was basicaly about his car if i recal correctly.

It has been a long time you know lol.

In the beginning, there was the word, and the word was TORANA.........

A long time ago, on an internet far, far away..........

Many (many, many) years ago there were a number of torana based forums running around. About the time of The Judge's death at Eastern Creek, a number of these forums began going belly up.

There were a number of us long-termers using more than one of these sites and becoming well acquainted with each other. V8gent decided to create a forum and website just for the Torana-tragics to replace all the others. It would be everything we wanted from the other forums and more.
Dagabond and I agreed to help out with this original forum.

As the forum and site evolved (sometimes falling down to be rebuilt back up) other regulars and knowledgable folk quickly joined the ranks of the Admin and Mod team to form the wonderful place you see today. This is probably the sixth (?) incarnation of this site/forum.

Tiny came on board as a mod, then we all basically just let him do the work of running the place........we get slack you see. :D

Obviously we are still evolving to become even better and hopefully we can add more exciting things in the future.

Very interesting, in real terms the history of any net forum is but a few years (3-10 at most) but its amazing how quickly a good forum evolves and takes on its own life. So wheres Dagabond these days, he hasn't abused me for ages now :spit:

I still remember those good old days too. V8gent and I were both members of the Torana Street Machine Club. That orange beast of his was one super clean Torana.

I don't recall how many years ago that was now - but it was LOTS! I don't even know if I had my P plates back then.

A "wallflower" is someone that sits on the sidelines and doesn't say much.
A "glowmesh" throw is like a grown up dummy spit or challenge offer.

I vagualy recall the ezyboard days... I don't think i started on the forum untill i purchased the SL back in 2002. If i was around before that, then my user name may have been vl_hsv since thats what i used for all my internet 'alias' back then, since i have the same hotmail.com account. :fool:

Yeah I used to browse a bit without posting. When I put the deposit down for my car I made my first post because I had to tell someone who cared about cars! The rest is history.

Ah the good old days, pity a lot of that info is lost. I often wonder about what happened to some of the personalities that have come and gone over the years, perhaps sold their Toranas and moved on ?
