an inline filter cost around 12 bux and it should filter the oil and water. also you should try and empty your tank each night so that the crap doesnt just build up. this is what i was told when i bought mine not long ago. whack up some pics of your work Big T :spoton:

Mmmm, ^ I thought that went without saying (emptying tank every night).

Think I spent about $40 for my water trap, which also has a regulator on it. This is the one that is set to 40psi.

Stop talking about painting. Painting season is finished down here for the time being. Just prepping everything ready for next spring, unless I can jag a pleasant sunny winters day.

Pleasant sunny winters day in ACT hehehe surely you jest Pat :D I wont rub it in too much man, anyway, at least you can actually paint (and weld... see my other post :D )

Right you are Toryman, I empty the tank after each use so not too much crap builds up.

I reckon a water trap wont hurt so I'll see what I can find tomorrow......

Yeah, saw that, but like most others, prolly not sure how to respond.

Welding is good, sounds like he gave you a good run down. Listen for that nice sharp crackling sound and practice before you weld.

The mornings and nights are killers here, we actually get more sunny winters days than any other Australian Capital city. Believe it or not.

You've made it heaps further than most will ever get, you've started and had a go. The only way from here is up.

Do the Tafe Restoration course, it's a must to put it all together. Best money I ever spent.

Ive looked into that yella (tafe resto course) but they only seem to do Oxy stuff here. I might have to search a bit harder. They used to do it just down the road but I havnt seen anything in the last year or two. Ah well, I'll keep practising and see how I go.

I rubbed back the clear coat today with 1200 and then 2000 and it came up quite well. A bit scratchy from the sanding but hopefully compounding will fix it up a bit. Im just happy to have an orange bonnet with a fairly good colour match. Thanks for all the hints and tips mate, I appreciate it. Same goes to everyone else who provided advice. That satisfaction of doing something yourself is well worth the trails and tribulations.

A couple of shots.....

Good stuff there Big T.

Yes, they start you off on oxy, but they move into MIG in the second stage of the course. Oxy is a nice way to weld, I quite enjoy it. If your keen you can also normally talk the teacher into showing you a bit of TIG as well.

I trust you are going to remove the scuttle panel and guards for painting.
