Ahhhhh, Its good to see most people still love the flares! I was getting worried most people were converting to the "sleek" style of flareless!

But as the majority have said! Flares, Scoops, Spoilers, Droptanks, Thumping V8's and 9"s is still the best way to have a Torry! AHHHHH f*ck yeah!

I will admire either style, but I will prefer to own flared.I like a but of meat on the arse not skin and bone.

Needs a rear spoiler...

Tim

if you are referring to the white hatch above your post tim, i dont think it does at all!
it looks tuff as without it.
without the extra height associated with having a spoiler on it, it gives it more of a squat look at the back. makes it look fat.

The options you gave us have a very strong bias - you could have done the flareless example a lot more justice. Like I am about to do...

OOOOOOOooooooo yeah baby

Either or, depends on the car, but flared with no dish is f*ckING POX, as is anything with out sufficient rubber. It's easier to pull off a flareless look than it is a flared look.

Flares also look terrible if you have a hornet scoop with em or have anything out the bonnet

And as Melvins pointed out with that picture, the natural lines are REALLY nice when complemented by a nice set of wheels and good bodywork & duco.

Heath, the two pics up there were just random ones that I found on CarDomain... I'm pretty sure that everyone here has there own opinion on what a Flared/Unflared LH/LX should look like, and will base their opinion on that rather than the two cars shown in the Poll...

Agreed, Flares with a Hornet scoop looks shithouse (although Hornet scoops look crap fullstop, IMO)

Fair enough... Hornet scoops are just such an unnatural addition to a car's lines. Should've gone an A9X scoop :spoton:

Wow! I'm shocked and impressed to see flares winning! The big flares, fats and drop tank are what makes an SLR5000 an SLR5000 (even though we all know they didn't come out with any of it, but thats what joe public think). The flares are what drew me to a torana to begin with.

I'm glad to see people still aren't afraid to fire up the 'ol angle grinder.

RIM-010, i have a rear spoiler in the garage waiting to go on but i have always thought the same thing lcgtr1970 said. I have had a lot of people say it looks a lot better and meaner without it.

Thanks Heath I was leaning towards the flared look but that yellow SLR with the Simmonds looks so hot. I'm in the process of doing up my LX sedan at the moment and wanted the whole flares, GTS rims and drop tank look but now I'm confused.

^ I agree with GnR, to an extent... I reckon if you have to flare a Torana, make it a Hatch... I still prefer them without, but a flared Hatch looks better than a flared 4 door.

Flares all the way for me, no matter if its a sedan or hatch. IMO they just look so much tougher and ready to race.

and i disagree with GnR and tim, and i think a flared 4 door looks just as good as a flared hatch.

for example

MRLXSS that Blue Hatch is awsome. It would come close to the best i've seen. I went to the last knox cruz and saw a opaline blue hatch with dished GTS rims was VERY NICE as BORAT would say.

if i had a LH or LX sedan. id lower it, flares, front spoiler (under the bumper bar), bug catcher scoop, tank, but no rear bobtail. i cant say im a fan of it.

i wouldnt put the flares or the kit on a HB-LJ or a UC. but thats just me, im a ''mr.stock standard'' kinda guy. street machining is a personal thing so dont do what everyone else is doing, do what you wanna do! if you like them them put them on!!!

has to be flares or tubs.nothing else.

flares, from a quality point of view, are never nice, even from the factory they fit like crap and look like an abortion when the rear door is open.i'm yet to see one that doesnt looked hacked.

so i say no flares, but tubs. :spoton:

i vote no flares.

almost every modified LH/LX has them. maybe slightly roll/pump out the guards but no plastic for me.

my car will never see flares while i own it.
