Haha, don't think you'll have much to worry about mate. I'm running a higher compression than you so he might be being fooled by the exhaust gases pumping out the back ( they ripple my jeans at about 1.5-2 metres back - a huge improvement on the old system!). I think the most I'll see is about a 12 flat, once I get some traction.
Not that I like giving you a heads up, but the lift at the cam is 358 in and out and we are talking about a total lift at the valve of about 590 from memory.
I'm yet to whip off my covers and do any adjustment because she's only rounding the 1500km mark but should be good, a bit of a learning curve.
Cheers,

I am looking at getting a solid for my 6, but is it the same as the bigger boy's V8's to keep em in tweaked up and in tune? Are the rockers the only thing needed to be adjusted or have you gotta play around with other shit, replace springs often, check pushrods etc.. What's involved
Anyone got one in a 6? Trying to suss out if I should go solid or stay hydraulic. Cheers

Solids are great to get the revs but are noisy and need frequent adjustment. I only ever used solids in my XU1 mtrs.
I had a big hydraulic cam that needed to go over the pits, but I knew would fail. I decided to try the Rhoads lifter as they claimed it gives you more revs and a smoother idle. They lived up exactly to their claim. The idle was smoothed enough to get it over the pits and it gave me another 500rpm up top with power.
I run rhoads lifter in my 512rwhp turbo tory 6 and it will easily rev to 7500rpm with these lifter (but no point as power drops off heaps earlier).
Try Rhoads, they are a good antipump up lifter, but forget the other antipump ups like Crane as they are not as good.

Fantastic read. I went hydraulic cause I'm a lazy prick, it was easy, it was near impossible to stuff it up, and besides the odd stint on the track, it's pretty much a cruiser, not a race car.
Might have to talk to little bro about what cam we have for the track car now, 253 bird scarer.
