It is a fader for the radio. Note that it is smaller diameter than the others and the pictogram on it is a double headed arrow in a small arc.
If I didn't give it away, I have one lying around somewhere.
sstorana has a pristine one.

The choke cable is usually under the dash.

Is this a dealer fitted item? or aftermarket?
I know the rear of the dash panel has the rectangles moulded in for the switches,
but is there a circle moulded in for this? All those photos show the switch in pretty
much the same spot. (which suggests factory/dealer option)
Love this sort of stuff.

Fader for the radio, well I would of never have guessed that!
My guess was it was an intermittent wiper switch but I've never seen one in a LX (only UC).
