Hi MRLXSS,
Congratulations on your purchase, the LS1 in stock form are a good motor, but I am on my third LS1'd car and, and despite what Holden say's about them fixing all the problems with piston slap and oil usage, after the VT, I have had two VX's and currently have a VY, and they have all been big oil burners and noisy cars, so please keep any eye on your oil level, i check ours weekly and have to add a litre every 1500km to it.
Also with the 6 speed, we are on our second clutch in a year, there is a problem with the factory pressure plate collapsing, and once it has collapsed, your stuck, it gives no warning and no second chances, you can't just buy a pressure plate, you need to buy a new flywheel, bolts, clutch plate & pressure plate as a kit. Once our warranty finishes and if i keep the car i will be fitting a textra clutch.
Also, if yours has a LSD, and the oil hasn't been changed recently, they chew the clutches out real quick, so regular oil changes are good, there is also a friction modifier they put in the oils if the diffs get a bit clunky/grabe as with the oil in the gearbox, it needs to be changed quite regularly and uses ATF, ours in both was pitch black with minimal km's and it has lowish km's and has been babied around all it's life.
In sydney driving, ours goes through 20-25L/100km, on the open road I have managed to bring it down to 10L/100km or thereabouts, however my CV8 used to average 17L/100km in the city and it was auto go figure.
All in all, they have plenty of power, and with a LS1 edit go better and have better economy, if you really want it too boogie, grab some C4B heads, cam, larger throttle body & computer and that bumps them up to around 300kw with the right exhuast.
Enjoy.
