I run a worked 308 and with the standard thermostat I haven't seen my temp go over half. With the aluminium radiator the engine stays under 1/4 whether running in hot or cool conditions and my thermo's only come on when I am in traffic. You can pick them up so cheap now why would you buy anything else.

Why, because they both do things differently, one shines in one aspect but not the other. You chose one that suits your application or intended use.

The issue might be that your local repair shops have not managed to upskill enough for the task. soldering is definitely much easier and welding aluminium IS a specialist operation, but there will still be plenty of fabrication shops capable of the work in your area.
As for the aluminium being too thin- I have watched people weld together aluminium cans so its not an issue!

The Torana XU1 Group Nc guys at MCM , SMP today were running radiator block offs , as the engines were running a bit cold ( so they told me).
They all seem to run Alloy radiators.
It wasn't that cold of a day.
So assume in that race type application, they work well.

Also those guys probably have a bit more knowledge on operating temps than your average forum punter thinking his car is overheating it it hits 90 deg/c
Cheers.

Prolly right Geno but I paid $130 for the one in my car and, touch wood, has worked perfectly thus far.
It actually got a real good workout last time I dragged my car as I threw the fan belt on launch at the start of the track and it got WAAAAAAAAAAY hot by the time I finished the run (personal best time without wasting HP on them damn accessories ) and then limped back to the pit area. She had a pulse and was pissing greenies out the overflow
but despite the massive pressure, that cheap'n'nasty rad held together.
I do agree with you though. Pretty damn important item and IMO not one to be skimped on. I was just light on cash due to pouring everything into the build.
Cheers.
