hi guys

i am in the process of rebuilding my LJ GTR and i have just ripped the front wheels off and i have found it is running LH/LX disk's and calipers.

i was just wonding is there much diffrence performance wise between the sandard lj ones and lh/lx ones?

also does it change the offset/spacing of the wheels? they look in the right position.

i havent found any difference in the offset/spacing of the wheels on my LJ.

I also foudn the UC brakes i fitted to work alot better then the original twin piston LJ ones.

The LH/LX/UC calipers have a larger pad surface area and larger piston.

yeah thats what i figured ( in regards to the pad size.

the gtr i have was a ex-hill climb car as far as i know maybe thats why lh/lx brakes where fitted.

what did you do about the brake cable?

as the lj caliper faces the front and the lh/lx/uc one faces the rear,

mine had a dodgy metal hose and the orginal lh hose as well as the lj hose attached, and it is not secure at all and flops around.....

do you have a pic of your caliper including hose set up?

thanks

is this the right caliper for the side?

isnt the bleed valve ment to be as high as possible?

you may have it on the wrong side....

also how are you gonna hook up the brake line?
get a longer one made up?

or metal one to the orginal LJ position and use the orginal lj hose?

They reckon the original Lc Lj calipars are ment to stop better then the
Lh,Lx setup.

I would think the Lh,Lx setup would be better as more pad area but the experts
say the Lc Lj what do other think ?

Milco, i know when you put the HQ brakes on a LX, you swap the sides (from left to right) so that the caliper mounts from the same side as the LX ones do... Could you do this for your application?

It was brought up before that the LJ calipers are twin piston (opposed pistons) where as the LH/LX/UC calipers are single piston.

I went for alloy UC calipers (lighter and large pad surface then the LJ ones)

Ive noticed a dramtic improvement in my braking.

My old LJ calipers has freash pads and machined discs, admitedly i hadnt put a kit through the old ones like i did the UC calipers.

The UC stubs also improved my turning circle.

Sorry forgot to add that i had to swap over stubs and use LH steering arms.. :spoton:
