Hi guys....

I have decided to keep the SLR and giving her a complete rebuild.
So I am sure Ill be asking lots of questions over the coming months, as this is my first torana rebuild, and lots of stuff was pulled apart when I got her.

I have now completed her underbelly.
Sandblasted and repainted. Next to go on is the front end.
Been busy on it the last few days and tomorrow ill put it back into position.

Ill keep the thread updated as the car progresses.

Nice work. Just a quick tip, piss those nylothane uppers off to avoid squeeking, replace with rubber. Just what I was advised when they rebushed my front end.

Where you located?

Don't think you will regret keeping it.

Hi guys...
I have both rubber and nolathane rubbers and was tossing up which to use... I noticed the rubber ones fit nicer in the 'slot' but now i definately know which I will use.
Thanks for the advice.

Am located in Melb.

Cheers... will keep you all updated.

Ok....

After alot of mucking around... the odd swear word and a quiet a few hits with the rubber mallet, the front end is in the car!

Also bolted up the steering rack. Almost starting to look like a car again.
Realised today I dont have the steering coupling and rod for it... So if you got one to sell please let me know.

Cheers

Looks like an awesome project, coming along nicely  I'm looking at adding an LX SLR 5000 to my collection soon, needs a bit of work to get it back to standard though.
Do you have the original gear to go back in, like motor and interior and stuff ?

hatcheddan - Ive got about 97% of its original bits.
Missing a brake booster, console and a few other small trinkets, have the original running gear and interior which is a bonus.

TJ253 - When and where is the toranafest?? The wife is being leanient on me at the moment, I am spending loads of time out there.... She is a Torana widow! hahah

OK things have been a bit slow lately...
Should be a few bits arriving in the post soon, so i can complete the front end and steering.
Managed to get the engine on the stand on the weekend and took a better look at it.
Seems it has the incorrect manifold and quadrajet on it.
Anyone got a decent manifold they want to part with the number 9929854 on it?
Or a quadrajet with the number 17052795?

Will post some pics up of the engine build soon.

Cheers

Steve

Been working away slowly the last week or so.
Had the diff housing blasted and painted and she is now back in the car.
Also cleaned up the petrol tank and put it back in with new hoses and cleaned up and painted the fuel lines.

Still havnt stripped the engine yet. Should do in the coming weeks.

Front end is almost complete. Calipers are being rebuilt by a mate, should have her rolling soon, need 2 std rims..... anyone???
