Thats because those great looking driving lights on the L31 make it go faster....Note the L34 is slower over the quarter

The SLR5000 in factory trim had a standard eight , where the L34 had the big valve heads , cam , roller followers , Holley carb , twin point dizzy

and no holden ever had a twin point dizzy factory fitted.

There are different types of 'twin point' distributors, after all the title just means that the dissy has 2 sets of points & the overall aim is to increase dwell time.This picture shows ONE SET OF POINTS PER COIL, please explain how that makes this a twin point dizzy???

Because the road going L34 DID NOT get the HO pack in general - i.e. the 780 Holley etc.Why did all those apparent engine improvements of the L34 still not allow it to be quicker then the L31 over the 1/4?

It was just an L34 block with the Rochester on top (yes that's not 100% correct, but that's the idea).
With the High Output (HO) pack it was a fair whack more powerful.
