Think he means the module that lives on the base of the distributor. Known issues with that little beasty.

Put a test light to the positive side of the coil and to earth. With the key on, the light should light.
Put the test light to the negative side of the coil and to earth.
With the engine cranking, the test light should flash on and off.

If it doesn't flash, the problem is usually in the module or wiring to and from.

When you open up the module on the side of the dizzy, there should be heat sink paste under the module itself.
If this area is dry, the module has probably cooked and you'll need a new one.
Fill the hole with new paste when you put this one in.

Yes electronic dizzy have the module black box on bottom of dizzy, make sure you dont lose any parts and the white paste is a MUST . You might need to pull the dizzy out to do it proper thou .

before you go to this part the coil lead good? the cap good? the rotor good?

Yup, 5.0L Injected (on Commodores) is mounted on the left guard, not the dizzy base. Who knows where they may have put it in a transplant.

yes it's that ribbed box that has the plugs on it. Needs to be connected to the distributor and the ignition supply.
