Just another update.
Removed the front seats last night and found $3 all up in change :D including some 1c pieces. This car has never been touched which is great. Did a lot of vacuming and still has the hessian insulation under the carpet, which I am leaving there, after all its not a race car of course :D The floor is all painted still original from factory and not a spot of rust seen, in pretty much perfect condx. Pretty happy with that. Ive welded up a plate to cover the original shifter hole and put a silastic under it and bolted that down to seal the hole. The main reason I had to pull the carpet back was too cut off the rear center console mounting bracket. Which I did and smoothed and painted and then modified that bracket to be one end of a shifter mounting plate bracket. At the front of this im just using the original front mount for the console. The plate is about 5mm aluminium.

Im thinking that at the front of this plate I may weld another plate angled up towards the heater vents to mount the gauges in.

Above is just a shot of the special vice jaws for doing the braided hose lines.
Might get another shot of the shifter plate in a moment.

Nice!

I can answer one question, the laws dont say anything (well for NSW) about having HOT air blowing on the windscreen, only that there must be a air stream to de-mist the windscreen.

Yes, two 85mm computer fans put into the ducts and wired up poxily for roadworthy? She'll be right mate.

HI Guys
Thanks for the comments. OK on the windscreen de-mister question and suggestions, thats good stuff. I wouldn't mind the heater working if I could hook it up, but Im still not sure where im supposed to connect the hoses too in the manifold or pump?
Also still unsure what ports need to be blocked or what needs hoses ran to where for water passage around the manifold and the holes in the water pump. Ive emailed Edelbrock to see if they can help at all.
Re the seats, probably just put some covers over them for now and get them retrimmed later after all the rego and engineering is taken care off.
Been doing a little work on the fuel tank, its a big mumma 75 ltr aluminium job. Get some pics after thats been sorted a bit more.
Wont have much else to do after that really, except the electrical wiring and brakes. Oh and just make something to mount the 4 extra gauges. Oh and the exhaust ..doh forgot that bit. But I already have the mufflers and X pipe.

Yes I am going to try to run one in the pump and one in the manifold, got fittings yesterday. Also got twin 2.5" tail pipes from the front of the diff back. Got a few other hose fittings too, should be able to complete the fuel system today. Really got to get to this gauge panel but been putting it off.

Boot mounted 75ltr fuel cell.. Working on the gauge panel at present ... 1.30am go back out there in a moment

Yes the pickup should probably face the rear, but I dont think there will be a problem as its got the sump set up and foam, and besides ...its not a race car lol

Gauge panel came up quite good and looks great in the car. Sorry the bottom switch is a bit out of alignment with the top one, but that happens when your rushing.

Thanks comment Brad. And Rowan, I dunno I think a missus would be easier. As for a road trip... lets not jump the gun, not even started the thing yet. Though I did dump some oil in the engine and box this morning. Not far away from the first fire up though.

I used HQ radiator hoses on my Chev LH as HQs had a 350 Chev option,& a Chevy more or less bolts into a Torrie like it does a HQ. I Had no dramas getting them either asked my local auto one & had them that afternoon. As for heater hoses from memory mine had a hose running from the top of the water pump & from an outlet on the drivers side of the inlet manifold (edelbrock performer) to the heater. There was another outlet on the passenger side of the manifold that I used for my temp sender. What water pump did you use? I used a long pump as that's what HQs used but I think 307s had a short pump. All the best with your project.

Yeh its a short water pump. I have found some radiator hoses that will do the trick for now. There not HQ chev, but as you say, they would fit probably quite well. We'll see what happens. One is a Torana V8 hose and the other is a stateman V8, I had to cut the stato one a bit.
I have now got the heater arrangement sorted out, and what you have described sound pretty much exactly like what i have done. I only got this done today.
Have also run the oil press and water temp, plus exhaust temp cables today.

lol I thought that shifter plate was going to fit in the bottom of a long 4cyl console until you made that guage panel. Still looks good though and is still unique

OMG! Ive got oil pressure!
Not done a great deal since last post, but I have quickly set up the oil pressure gauge and connected the oil pipe up to it. Ive also removed the dizzy and put in an oil system primer. Connected a drill to the primer shaft and spun it with the drill, got oil flowing quite easy.
Only took a couple of moments and I got around 70psi just using a battery drill to spin it. Really happy with that, thats great.
Ive kept the drill on for about 3 mins to get oil up everywhere its needed before turning the motor over for the first time, which hopefully wont be too far away. Just a lot of electrical to do.

G'day folks. Just a quick msg to tell you that its alive!! OMG!
Started the engine up this afternoon, with no dramas at all. Went on the 2nd hit of the key.
Straight out the extractors at the moment, but it sounding very healthy and crisp.
More info later. Running around with a pretty big grin at the moment. :D
