Fantastic stuff Leigh, I just read this whole thread and I'm really impressed how quick you've got her up and running. The engine looks awesome too! Good to hear you managed to sort out the extractors in the end. Will it be going on a dyno at all? I'd be interested to hear power figures and specs for the engine. Can you explain what these 2 EGT gauges do? This is gonna be a top car when it's finished off.

Well done mate.

Well done Leigh! Sounds like your startin to enjoy the car now you've gotten to drive it. I only spoke to you last week and it was just gettin the ignition sorted, now its running and driving. Super effort! Have you thought about running a filler pipe from the cell to the original point behind the number plate?

LXCHEV- It would have been done a lot quicker if it wasn't for those extractors I can tell you. I dont particularly want to put it on a dyno or a drag strip cause then I'd probably want to make it go better. And that can never end! lol. Ive got 2 exhaust temp probes in the front 2 pipes, either side of the engine. I had a similar set up in the yellow torana except it was digital gauge and I had port in each pipe. I just use it get an idea of the tune up of the engine to see how rich or lean it is. Ideally a data logger with 8 probes would be good. If the temps are too hot its lean and too cold then its rich. I reckon maybe 1300 degF on a road car would be nice. Its currently 1400 or a bit more, so I might change the jets slightly. Two ports on the back two pipes would be handy.

AGGRO- Yeh ive tried to get this going asap and Im pretty well burnt out now. To much all at once. I cant run a filler pipe from the original location as the fill point on the tank is higher. Not sure how I will tackle this one yet.

Ive taken some ugly photos of the car, will post in a moment.

Gday Heath.
Yeah I was planning on pulling it to bits once its engineered and all good, and respraying it in the original colours you see in the photos. I even want to keep the white roof. It needs to come down a long way at the back, but will work on that later too.

Ive also ordered the A9X scoop today also, but probably wont be here till next week.

Lowering sounds good, so does a respray & scoop. No chance of me talking you into a different original colour? Or round headlights? lol

Wow!!! I like it & your right, it kinda looks like mine except in my opinion your paint is in better nick than mine. You've done a great job getting this car to where it is now in such a short time & I'm super impressed. Reading the progress of your Torrie in this thread & chatting to you along the way has inspired me with my Torrie. Glad to hear you want to keep the original paint & trim colour, it's rather unusual on an LH I haven't seen it before, or dark green trim either.I've had so many people suggesting I paint mine this colour or that colour but I will stick to the original Sable Metallic with black stripes. This is an uncommon colour on LHs too as it is an LJ-HQ colour. Still trying to figure out a solution to your fuel cell issues, if the engineer won't let it slide have you thought about fitting the standard tank back in to get registered then fitting the cell back? Let me know how you go with it. Cheers Matt

G'day Leigh. Thought I'd post another couple of pics of how my Torana sits with the lowered springs & Koni shocks. If your Torana has similar sized tyres/rims this is close to how your's will sit to the ground.

As you can see it isn't very speed bump friendly with that B&M trans sump

G'day all.
Now that I have the A9X scoop for the car... and requiring a fuel tank change... im thinking of going all out and getting the whole flare and spolier kit for it and a 120L drop tank. Plus a colour change.
Im sure that will please a few people.
Will update when things happen.

G'day brief update.
I have in my possesion, the wheel arch flares and front spoiler, just waiting on the rear spoiler. I wont put these on for a while though till everything else is sorted rego wise.
I now have the A9X scoop bolted up and have changed the fuel tank back to the original for now. Started and all seems to be OK yesterday.
I then did some sorting out of the handbrake with the commodore rear disc set up and that is now working Ok too.
Sorry about the photos it looks horrible in the sun with the dust, it hasn't been washed for over a year.
2 jobs left before rego is to get the reverse light system working and the neutral start circuit, which should not be too hard.
I do have a water leak out the temp sender on the manifold which I will have to try fix, but other than that should be all good.

Forgot to mention, had this white commodore (commondore?) with P plates go crazy and thought he was extremely good, followed me for a while then decided he'd over take me in a single lane 50 km/h zone. I was with Kane355 from on here, we did nothing but laugh n shake our heads. Bit of an idiot, but I guess you get that when you get all excited seeing a real car.
Also the car sounds awesome, and as noted by Kane, it seems to be getting louder as the mufflers get run in more.
Its actually amazing how many people noticed the car even though its looking fairly grandma-ish.
Ive got the rev limiter set at 4000 RPM while the engine is still newish, and its damn strong till there even.

BTW the car is probably for sale for $25,000. Fully engineered n regoed etc. Cant see me keeping it.

Well, cause I live on a dirt road. And I cant keep it as clean as yours.
I dunno. We'll see how it goes. But if I got offered a good price it would probably go.
Blue/pink slip booked for next Wed.

At the moment im thinking of leaving the spoilers and flares that I got off the car again and thinking of respraying the original colours again. Really keeps people guessing when you see the original grey with the white roof, but then you spot the A9X bonnet scoop...and A9X looking wheels.. But then when you actually hear it running :)

Haha leigh trust me mine isn't always as clean as in my display pic. During the day its parked in an industrial estate with lots of dirt around. And every time it rains its dirty. Its dirty now. But i wouldn't sell it cause of that. You will have too much fun in it to worry about it getting dirty. Whichever way you go with the flares its gonna be one cool ride and the sleeper look is always good.

You don't need to clean underneath your car! This car is slightly different than the GPak lol
