The floor is in really good condition, nothing to indicate any rust so far, perfectly painted and still had the hessian underlay from factory.

G'day little bit more work today. Here is a photo of where its at.
Attached File  Pic_0314_379.jpg   74.58K   9 downloads

A lot of stuff was fiddly stuff today, like removal of gauges, sorting out heaps of wiring, removing ignition components, shifter and cable, front carpet.
All still looks good and no signs of any rust.

It looked like a pretty serious bit of gear hahahhaa. Never seen a car with such massive rubber, and really liked the fabrication on it. I'm not into big dollar drag racing, but I'm still fascinated with the work that goes into the vehicles :)

OK I had Goodyears on it when I had it, so im not sure if they are the same size, but I had Top Fuel Dragester size wheels n tyres on it for building it. They were 16x16 rims. Cant exactly remember the tyre size, but I think it was 17.5x36x16.
I hope they run it at some stage. Be good to see how it goes.
If anyone is interested, I originally built the chassis to top doorslammer specs there is other photos here http://www.vk2krr.co...doorslammer.htm

Got the K frame out and ready for cleaning re-bushing and painting. Was surprising the amount of play the steering bush had in it.

Only bit of rust ive found in the car is in the boot, fairly bad where the spare wheel goes.

A - ??

Also ive just managed to get the windscreens out. Not much to go now, brake stuff in engine bay and heater fan box.

Hi Leigh.
Looks like you're making fast progress with your car, well done Posted Image . From my experience, most of the small holes could be filled with a MIG however any areas where there are groups of small holes close together i would make small plates to weld in. From my experience trying to weld groups of rust holes like that turns them into one big hole. Rare Spares sells a rust panel to suit but from what i can see in your pics i don't think you need to replace the whole channel but it's an option for you never the less. When i repaired my Torana i "butt" welded the plates in to keep the channel uniform in shape & i trial fitted the window before i painted the car. Some people may think this is unneccesary but i know of instances where the windscreens wouldn't fit properly because the shape of the channel has been altered too much by welding plates over the rust. Keep up the good work. Cheers Matt

Hi Matt
Thanks for your thoughts. It seems fairly solid around the holes, so I think it will be OK to try fill up with weld.

Just a quick question, HOW.. do I get the headlight knob off the headlight on off switch. As I need to get the lower part of the dash off, so I need to get the knob off first. I dunno if it screws off or pulls, I cant see any thread but I dont want to damage anything.

Hi all, just to spark a bit of interest in this. Ive been tossing up wat to do with this car. Some pretty radical ideas have been thought over but ive come to the conclusion.
Ive just ordered a F1 ProCharger kit. That way i can still keep the car on the road and run about 700 Hp. This will be a good test for the Racematic, I'll have to let Hugo know.
Will keep u posted.

oh PS - I will then be able to live up to my forum name 'BlownOutlaw' ;)

Still might add a little extra to the spots that have been ground back here just to fill them up a little and make it more flat.
