Yeah that red one is gorgeous, but doesn't he want like $60-70k for it and it's just a replica?

For not much more you'd get the real deal, restored or not you would rather the genuine article.

Actually i think there's a Genuine LC XU1 in yellow for $49-50k on carsales.

Is the Linamint car original A9X ?

It's been advertised for a fair while that car, alway's had me wondering what's wrong with it.

Nice pictures guys. There's some good inspiration there. I definitely plan to start building an LC or LJ in a few years time.

Travis's LC has always been one of my favourite drag only torries-

Posted Image

I remember when it was an immaculate stock 2 door (A LONG TIME AGO NOW!)

Its currently back to gloss black and pulling some decent numbers AFAIK

The best looking LJ I ever saw was in a magazine in the mid 90's. It was a Salamanca Red genuine XU-1 that was tastefully modified with GTS sports mirrors and dropped right down on its guts. It has some massively wide magnesium Sprintmasters on it too. I think the owners name was Brett Hayes.

That was a hell of a tough looking car. Does anyone else remember it and have pics of it?

Any idea where it is these days? I'd love to see it again.

I remember it , had original magnesium 8's and 9's. From memory he claimed the engine was done by Gricey's old mechanic.
It look good from a distance , but personally , I didn't like all the detailing he did on it. He smoothed every seam off the car.

I can see why purists might not like what was done to the car for obvious reasons, but I love the look of those fat sprintmasters and the ultra low stance.

If I were to ever build up an LJ, it would be along the lines of this one in appearance.

This is the only Brett Hayes car that I am aware of - its tangerine, no sprintmasters and it has 13X6 and 14X8 Armorlites.

This is the article from Street Machine April-May 1989.

According to the article, engine was built by David McLean at Maitland Performance Centre (he used to be on Alan Grice's pit crew).

I think that is the same car I'm referring to, just hasn't had the drop in ride height or the Magnesium Sprintmasters at this stage. The torana mag that had the story im talking about was from the early or mid 90's, so a few years after that Street Machine article.

that CGMFLY LC, would that be an anodized grille? Is anodising a chrome finish or more like silver jewellery?

what about some of the others like the LJ boys who have chrome headlight surrounds. Are they just anodised, polished until mirror finish? all this finish crap is confusing as hell!
